Had frozen outrigger pads slipping around this morning. Not gonna be a problem tomorrow! This new antique free shop is more awesome every time I turn around! Looks like I can fit a lift on trailer, the big chipper, and the two giants plus tractor now. Amazing.

Still need a palm tree or two for my sharpening oasis though! Lol. F44A8283-AE53-48A0-A725-52DD604144FA.jpeg

Looking very slick as usual. What is that, a 55 ton?

Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, it’s a 55L (55 ton, 155’ of boom, I believe). Beautiful machine and top notch operator.

Log truck has been pretty handy lately too. We still had this last piece of pine from a job earlier in the week in the truck when we fit all but a few little pieces of that maple in. Truck drives like an old school Lincoln fully loaded lol. Good example of why a dumping log truck is nice sometimes.

I'd love a truck like that. Would make white oak logs like this easier!

IMG_20231108_094042_01.jpgI think we chunked it into about 6 pieces to help my little LS handle it.

Maybe someday! Not a good time to be in the log truck buying market currently.

Maintenance Monday. Got the chute off the backup 250, emptied the belly pan, took new battery out, greased her and put her in the container.
Then we worked on fitting the other stuff in for the winter. Not bad. Six key pieces, plus the lift trailer will be high and dry and ready to pull out with the big giant asap.

I thought you said if you had a log truck it could potentially open up an entirely new biz log truckn through the winter?
I had a change of heart!

Bought an old beast and wound up selling it. I think I could make 6-8k or so per week with one but after paying a driver, buying diesel, and beating up the truck on logging roads, I decided it wasn't worth the stress. I think I'd rather devote one exclusively to tree work, especially if I can get my elusive 2 crew idea going again full time.

What's your winter looking like??

Busy as usual working and fixing stuff.

Finally got a hooklift truck for a sweet price! Just got it this past Sunday. Was lucky to be surfing Facebook and saw this less than a 1/2 hour after it was posted. I have some work to do to it before I can use it and I need to find some boxes, but in due time it should be a beast. 30k pound lift, 4x4, 10 spd trans.

Went halves on a bandsaw mill with one of my employees. It’s a lot of fun to use. It will be a slow ROI, but we’ll have it for a very long time and the upkeep should be minimal.

Chipper wheel bearing blew out on the interstate. No one had the Nev r lube hub assembly in stock locally. So we set up my crane on the side of the road and lifted the chipper onto my deck over trailer. A little sketchy, but it’s all fixed up with a new axle now.
