Looking at buying a Carlton 2500-4 thats a couple years old, 27 Hp, and has 140 hrs. on it. It's in excellent condition and the seller wants $7,500 for it. It comes w/ neither dual tires nor a trailer but I've got a 5x8 & a 5x9 we could pull it on & I could add the tires if/when I need them. Does $7,500 sound like a good price? Also, should this come w/ a title or registration papers or what?

Is it deisel or gas?

Not sure if its the same machine as I subbed out the othe week..but, this was a gas carlton and it seemed real underpowered, sort of painfully slow to watch. I was like man! thats things still working on that little stump??

Someday I'm planning on getting a vermeer sc 352 diesel. My friend has one and it seems to do pretty good - considering you can get a used one for around 13K. I wouldnt invest much more in a stump grinder IMHO.

That is a good price on a great little machine. Just remember that it is a LITTLE machine. It would be good for someone doing stumps part time. You are not going to be as productive as a larger machine and won't be able to keep up with prices on the larger jobs but it is fine for smaller jobs and smaller stumps.

Thanks guys. It's the gas powered Kohler motor. I demoed it a few weeks ago and it seems nice for a smaller stumer. I didn't think it was that small, of course it's no tow behind moster stumper, but it did the job and seemed to be comparable to our 252.

The key is sharp teeth!! You don't have the horsepower to waste on dull ones.

Sounds like a fair deal. My old worn out Rayco brought 5 grand - and no I didn't sell it on here!
