You know, people have said that to me before.... but somehow I always seem to come up with these things. Took me 3 years to find the particular vintage rough terrain forklift I was looking for, but I found it, and a good one too. That's about the longest it's taken for me to find something. The internet is great.

Rare to find the parts for sale. Most owners of 090 stuff are hording the parts at this stage of the game.

That is one awesome 090! How much milling do you plan on doing?
I run 32:1 in my 090, you can run ethenol fuel as long as it's fresh, I would say no more than a month.

I've read that the 090's, especially the older ones, can be hell on the user. Then again, what 125+ cc saw isn't tough on the user? I bet that thing can beat you up pretty good if you're not careful.

Just to be curious, what would the specs be on an early 70's 090? Would it still be a 137cc saw, and what would the HP rating be....9-10?

I'm preparing to start cutting a couple timberframe buildings starting about February. While much of the frame wll be from reclaimed beams. there will be some unique pieces in the house frame such as this. these are too wide for a band mill, so my choice is chainsawmill or hew with an axe. Not sure how many I'll have. But the mill will give me the ability to slab for table or whatever, and to reduce a large log that is too big for a band mill to a manageable size. These are just sample pics and are not me or my work. The two on the left are the guys who is designing my frames. The pic on the right is one I just got off the web to show what I'm talking about.

I plan on getting ethanol free fuel this weekend as I have to make a run and found a station along the way that sells it. Then I'll try to start it. I read the directions on how to start it and it's some process. 1.Ignition to on, Choke to "O" postion (closed), depress trigger and actuate the lock on button so that it holds at half throttle, right foot in lower handle, left hand on upper handle and holding compression button, pull starter with right hand. When it fires, release compression button immediately, open choke and actuate throttle trigger to release trigger. That about right?

Yeah that's about right, and after you do it that way once or twice you'll just pick it up put the bar on a log give it choke till it pops, then no choke and a few pulls.

I do think saws like that should be run and not just shelved but milling is really tough on a saw and
that is a tough saw to replace if it got damaged. Obviously it's yours to do with as you please.
For ethanol-free fuel, in a pinch, you can get it at most hardware or equipment stores in small cans with
oil pre-mixed into it. TruFuel is one brand but there are many others. They are expensive but they
have a long shelf life so I keep a few on hand for times when I can't get to the station.

1/2" chain is hard to come by these days. They're not making it any more.
Most guys that have some are hording it, using it for racing chain, or selling it for big $.

Forget about the benzene, the U.S. has some of the most highly refined fuels in the world. Your best friends at the EPA "legislated" benzene into nonexistence pretty much. Can you get Tru-Fuel? I about fell over in the aisle when I saw it here in my little burg. And people buy it.

Is there an airport around you? Get some avgas. Yes some people b***h and moan about it but it burns and without ethanol. Worth a try.
Going from a small saw to an 090 is amazing. You should send it to Snelling for a comprehensive massage.

What is Snelling? I don't think the fuel will be a problem as it looks like I can buy it along the way on some of my regular trips. Yeah, I wanted the mill and found the two together. Everyone I heard said to use the biggest powerhead you can, so here I am... It will be an adventure. I just ordered a 404 rip chain, and granberg's file-n-joint and grinder. Did you guys see Wranglerstar's video on the use of this tool? I'll post a link to part 1 adn part 2 below.

"What is Snelling"? Snelling is the last name of Brad Snelling of Snellerized Saws. He will transform that monster of yours into a MONSTER.

I love .404, I have it on my 394 and 3120. I'd put it on my 137 but cannot find a bar to fit. Just wait 'till you see the noodles flying! They make GREAT tinder for the fireplace.
