I can't get in to TB.  What's the secret apart from installing Windows on my computer?

I don't understand a web site not using simple HTML, especially when it's a forum.  Maybe that's why it's not got the traffic AS does.

Hey Roachy, what's up. I've been at AS nearly a year now, since I got my first computer. ArboristSite and computers are pretty neat. I checked out TB a lot, and it has a lot of good reading. I was dismayed by the lack of posting, so I hang here for the most part.
But I no problem with TB. I just prefer the atmosphere here over there. Too dry and 'formal?' for my tastes at TB. But whaddo I know?
I hope to hear more from you, over her with us 'outlaws'.

:)

TREEWORK RULES!!!

Thanks, Brian.  That got me in the door.

So it's chainsaw racing here and speed climbing there, huh?  Are there equivalents to all our great characters like Art, KD, John, Dennis C., TFJ, etc.?  LOL

I been at the buzz for some time and I loved it and the people are great and alot of the same people are here as well. I switched over here once the buzz changed their site around. I just found it a bit harder to get around the site. Now my thing is I just can't really keep up with two sites. I hear a spend too much time on here and I just got a oh dear god as she walked by. I think the two sites should just merge together in a perfect world.

I don't quite remember when it was when they changed but it isn't quite the same to navigate. I believe too I went through some changes in my life and the buzzzz was a big part of it at the time. Kinda the same as I was into RC model planes before my wife left and I haven't touched the plane I was in the middle of building since she left it just sits in my basement unfinished. Those parts of my life just died with those people. Now AS fills those voids. But even climbing I don't have the same passion for now.

My opinion of TB vs. AS

I was a Tb fan from the first days of surfing the arborist formums. After spending 6 months or more over there i discovered this site. Once i noticed there were more people out there talking on a regular basis about things i care to hear about. Sorry Tb some of the topics in the climbers forum can be pretty bland unless your w/ in the inside circle of the chisolm clan.
Second reason, i've chosen to stay over here w/ As for the most part is... What friendly people we have over here, everyone is willing to share info; that's what i like to see. I can't count how many times i've Pm someone (names not to be mentioned) over at Tb and recieved absolutely no response.

If Tb had better traffic then i might visit more often; however like like rocky, i can catch up there about once or twice a week. I love this place it keeps you hooked, miss a couple days and your lost, lots of topics popping up all the time.

JUST MY TWO BITS>>>>

The buzz is cool-I appreciate Tom and Mark for creating the site. Unfortunately the format is not as easy to use as AS and it doesn't get the posting quantity that this site does. I stop over there occassionally. Here I camp.

i think it is pretty sad that a thread congratulating the leader of the pack of the ideas and tests of what the trained healthy body will do, and something to set/rate some of ourselfves by gets played down to why his board might not being doing to well.....

Especially as the grace and humility that Roachy presents that Mark holds his 'titles' at; jsut walking as any other. Which is kinda the picture i had of him from anyone that i talked to that knew/met him, even a few scant emails over time. That coupled with Tom being his partner; i think gives TB a different flavor; like threads that don't go like this one! i think that is a determinate factor to some that 'stay over there'.

i once again think it is way above and beyond the call of duty as much as Tom sees no borders, even as he is in 'competition' with AS; will jump in the pool at any time to save a life, whatever; and all of the time that it takes to find those treading deep water etc.

There are people that have left here because of the non-peace or whatever at some points; and that is a shame; for they and we all lose i think. Someone could have saved there life; or they could have saved someone else's etc. The air can get thick, and some need to take breaks etc.; self included.

There is room for both boards, not everything is a competition, a singling out. There are some real thinkers at the other board, prolly higher percentage, perhaps tuning to the different flavor kept by the owner's own personalities, desires and demands for others i would imagine.

The SoftWare is rumored to be updated, i have no problem with it myself (......okay the drawing posting limits are a lil lower!! :D ) The posting runs in tides sometimes.

Peace

High number of posts does not = good site. Sometimes more is just more. The fact that you can just check it once or twice a week and catch up is a good thing.

Many don't have the time and patience for flame wars. I know the few at TB have discouraged a good many top European climbers from participating there.

I got to TB for information and I come here, like now, with my coffee in the morning.;)

As far as the TB founders, I can't say enough good things. The contacts that Tom has given me and I have nurtured over time have eased my transition to a new country. Mark, one of the few climbers that has a right to have a bit of and ego, comes across as having none, he is always helpful. Though in terms of techniques, and etc, he does seem to play his cards a bit close to his chest.

I get this impression as well. I can remember a few questions i asked him in regard to this sort of thing that went unanswered. Understandable.

Any way both sites have there place.

And back to the subject of the thread. Congratulations Mark,,you're amazing, How do you do it?
