Now i am not sure but there may be a little difference between your gas in the states and ours in canada. Now if i use
castrol oil and shell high test gas , i get a blue colour like i am to have , now just leave it for 2 or 3 days and take a look at it, it starts to get the white colour in it to but if i use xtc 50 it stays the same colour from the start

Terry,
How does the alusil work? In the nikasil process, the nickel is used as a bond matrix for the silicon carbide for the wear surface, how are they using aluminum to do this? I would think that it would be too soft and would allow the silicon carbide to shear.
(I know, I ask to many questions, its been slow lately)

etanol

Seems down here below the thruway we now have ethanol in the gas. I have some co workers who have lost pistons and cylinders in 3 Arctic Cat 500's so far. It is being blamed on the ethanol
We were warned about this at Stihl school (for 2 stroke equipment). You know of an oil that will overcome the problem of it attracting water? Right now the answer is a little more octane and using the fuel up in a month, plus richening up the jets.

The ALUSIL has a puzzlement to me too. How do you impregnant Aluminium into Aluminium. Sounds like a same sex marriage. I will see what I can find out about this un natural process and let you know what i find.

"Alusil is the trademark name of Kolbenschmidt AG in Europe for the process used in their aluminum engine blocks. Alusil basically consists of about 70% aluminum and 30% silicon. Alusil is used to replace Nikasil (a trademark of Mahle) that had corrosion problem with high sulfur content US fuel. Racing Dynamics has the information about Alusil. It is said that Alusil is a patented process. If you need more detailed information, you'd better get the patent. "

This is one statement I found from another website. I seems a bit redundant to say. I asked about Kolbenschmidt AG and the factory is aware of the company. I wonder if this compay has any connection to Karl Schmidt. They use to make some cylinder for Dolmar.

Terry

I was wrong earlier, Dolmar used cylinders from Kolbenschmidt not Karl Schmidt.
Kolbenschmidt KS Aluminium-Technologie is one of the world’s leading producers of aluminium engine blocks, and market leader in the field of hypereutectic aluminium-silicon alloy (ALUSIL®) engine blocks. The casting processes used by the company for in-series production are highly diverse, ranging from low-pressure chill casting to die casting as well as squeeze casting. Each of these casting procedures represents a competitive alternative to sand casting.

Here is some information, not really explaining it all to me but at least ALUSIL is for real.

I did get some feedback from our German factory regarding this issue and maybe put it to a close, but then again reading some fo the other threads, maybe not.

NIKASIL and Sulphur - "It is not as simple as described. This is only a "CAR" problem, not a 2 stroke air cooled handheld engine problem. We (Dolmar) never had a problem like this and see no reason for changing or research".

Good thing they dont run this website. If so it would just be to dry for me.
