I kinda doubt it, but thats just my guess. They have so many, it gets confusing. I been using Permatex MotoSeal No.1 Ultimate Grey. Seems to work good. Might be able to find it at some auto parts places. I bought mine online, last time I was at NAPA, the particular store didn't have it. (small town store)

Gregg,

I would be very surprised if all those sealers like Yamabond weren't Moto Seal.

Gregg,

My small town NAPA didn't have it either but ebay seems to always have it...

Yamabond and Hondabond are the same as Threebond 1194.

Well...........you need to use the right Yamabond/Hondabond/Suzukibond/Kawasakibond formulation to match Threebond 1194. The number is 4..........as in Hondabond-4. My package of Hondabond-4 even has "-1194" in the part #. The 5, 3, and HT 'bikebond' (such as Kawasakibond-5) products are not the same as Threebond 1194. Some of them match other Threebond products.

looking to acquire seals for my 306A and the IPL is somewhat confusing. i had written the OE numbers down but might have transposed some numbers since what i have doesn't seem to match up with the IPL. IIRC there are three seals - pto/clutch inner, pto clutch outer, and flywheel. can someone list the OE numbers for me again since i'm cornfused? thanks.

Three Bond - Gasket Sealer

Honda 08717-1194 - Hondabond 4

Amazingly, many sites state that Hondabond-4 is a silicon based product, and that is definitely false. It's the same thin grey synthetic rubber/solvent based product as Threebond 1194. Even smells the same. It's NOT an RTV silicon. I've had both the 'actual' Threebond product and Hondabond-4, and they're the same. Hondabond HT and Hondabond-5 are very different.

530019042 is the FW side. Goes into the "bearing carrier" under the flywheel.

530001936 inner PTO side seal that goes into the crankcase.

530019035 is the seal that goes into the oil pump housing (you'd call this the outer PTO seal).

Industrial equivalents for all three of these were found in Mark's "Seal Finders" thread. Search Mark's started threads list and you'll find it.

As always, thanks for the help. I used the info I have gleaned here and think I found something that will work. $10 at Autozone. Here is what I found:

Permatex® PermaShield™ Fuel Resistant Gasket Dressing & Flange SealantSpecially formulated for superior fluid resistance, this polyester urethane based gasketing compound withstands extreme temperature changes without hardening. Its non-setting, non-hardening character remains tacky even with rapid changes in temperature, enabling repeated assembly and disassembly of parts. Suitable as either a gasket maker or dressing, PermaShield™ seals surface imperfections between metal parts and is ideal in high performance applications. With an operating temperature range of -60° to 500°F (-50° to 260°C), this compound resists common engine fluids, including oil, gasoline, ethanol, water and anti-freeze and prevents contamination from moisture and dust. Axle assemblies, hydraulic parts, differential covers, fuel injectors and pumps, oil pans (cast), head gaskets, water pumps, bearing caps/brackets, gearboxes, hydraulic drives/motors, torque converters, timing cases, inlet manifolds, valves, etc.

What could possibly go wrong, it can't be any worse than getting the piston off. Who got me started on this stuff?:msp_huh:

If that's non hardening, I don't know if I'd use it on a saw. Hondabond and motoseal harden nicely. .

Predator 335

I got my 335 running today that I had bought on ebay. Saw runs and oils good. I took the cylinder off and cleaned the piston put on a new ring and dropped the cylinder alittle. I put a 3/8, .050, 16" bar that I reconditioned with a new sprocket. I really like these 335 series saws. This one is just a single thick ring just like a 3450 instead of the two thin rings that I have found on my other PP 335 saws. Here are a few pics.

You may be right. I have always used a gasket and Permatex #1. This is the first time I have
gone without. Some of the sealants recommended without a gasket were tacky. I will watch it and report back. Part of my learning curve :dunno:

Nice job on the saw. Looks better than new.

3400 plastic clutch cover?

Recently I was able to find a Craftsman 3.7 clutch side cover (plastic). Will there be any issues in putting that on a 3400? Seems to fit although it sticks out a bit more.
Also is there a rational reason why a used cover (make that a very well used) sells for more that a NOS one on e-bay? Hope you day is going well. Frank

Nice Predator! I just got in from cutting a couple trees down with my 335. I love these saws...

Mine was a "5 buck junker" when I lovingly rescued it from under that solo dealers bench... It was sitting there with a couple other poulans... I saved them all.

I really like the compact size of the these saws.
