That sucks. I put the saw back together until I get the carb kit and fuel line/filter. The fuel filter looks really old and brownish. Think I definitely need to clean off the top of the piston, there's some crud that scraped off from the pulley rope.

So anyway, not sure if I'm full blown CAD yet but there's definitely something wrong with me. I spent just about all day wrenching on this saw and I still feel like messing with it. I don't have anything else I could do though so sadly I'm going to put her away.

Got it uploaded on You Tube. I guess I need to learn to talk faster and cut the drivel at the end.

I might trying to compile a list of saws that are rebranded Poulans just in case I see a saw when I'm out and about or advertized and go "man that saw looks familiar".

Just from memory and cross ref search on acres, this is what I have so far:

All Craftsman's with the 1 st 3 digits of the model number as "358"
All Allis Chalmer's listed on Acres
All Dayton's listed on Acres
Both Spiegle's on Acres
Many Skill's listed on Acres
All the Wrights listed under the division of Poulan heading on Acres
Poulan Pro 405, 455, 525, 655 - Pioneers
Poulan Pro 415, 475 505 - Jonsered's
JC Penny saws listed on Acres. ( I have never even seen a picture or one of those saws with a JCP logo)
Some Wizard's
Some Ridgid's
Some Alden's
Does this look correct so far? What did I miss?

You have JCP twice, in addition to Spiegel (note spelling), Alden's also sold them and they were also branded as Gambles. Just to clarify, the correct spelling is Skil.

In Canada I think they were also branded as Canadian Tire.

List updated and edited in the post. Thanks

Here is a Poulan document someone here (I think) posted up some time ago. It lists many of the rebranded Poulans. It's not all of them by any means as there are many of the older saw lines missing.
There are many names listed here I've never seen mentioned on this site.
Download it as it may come in handy in the future.

Hey Gary, Do you have any of the White farm equipment saws? Found the pic

Ohhh, so the card is just to stop the magnets from turning the flywheel! I think Gregg said the same thing, just couldn't picture it in my head.

So, was the spacing already set? Noticed you didn't adjust the coil.

Also, why is the 5200 your favorite saw? Just curious.

Awesome video. Especially like the Canadian accent.

I have another dumb question, how can a Poulan Pro be a rebranded Poulan? Doesn't Poulan Pro tell you it's a Poulan? I'm kind of confused.

Wow! Most of those brands will not even show up on a web search.

I'm thinking of putting this 5200 cylinder on Ebay once it's completely cleaned up and all the aluminum removed. Any idea what a value on one would be, I've never seen one for sale?

No. The card stock is to set the gap. The magnets on the flywheel pull the loosened coil laminations against the card stock and then you tighten the coil / module down. The card stock should be between 0.010" and 0.014" in thickness. Make sense?

I would have to say if you cut with a 5200, 5400 or 8500 you would think all you other saws were just pretenders. Tremendous power for an 85cc saw.

Aha! Got it now, finally! Sorry about being so dumb everyone. The volume of my questions will drop dramatically once I learn on this 375.

I thought you had to manually move the coil so it touches the card. Doesn't seem so complicated now that the magnets do most of the work.

Have you tested the 655 against the 5200/5400/8500? I think I'll just get one more saw and be done with it forever until one breaks.
