Hi Guys
There's a new one on me.....
Clutch puzzle on a freebee craftsman 2.1PS and freebee S25DA. Both saws now run great with new fuel lines.
On the S25DA It came to me with a 1/4 chain and worn out spur clutch. I changed it all to 3/8LP and keeping the old hard nose bar. I may go back to 1/4 on this one. I really like the way the freebee Stihl 015L cuts with the 1/4 chain. It previously was my only 1/4" chain saw.
I discovered the 2.1 has a mini 9 spline rim clutch, Oregon 19779 (normally 1/4" chain), and it had a 3/8 rim (3/8-7-9) on it. Now the guy had a 3/8 LP chain on it , but it fits incredibly sloppy on the rim which is not worn at all. A regular 3/8 chain fits so much better on the rim and if I read it right, the craftsman IPL shows a "3/8" barracuda chain on this saw. However the bar tip seems to be right for 3/8LP. Bar looks almost new/unused. Is the rim supposed to be for regular 3/8 chain?
I'll probably convert to all 1/4 anyway.
As always
thanks
Dave
ps whats a husky 121? Nothing on acres site...it also uses this 19779 drum sprocket

Yes, from what I've seen, Oregon only made the 9T rim 3/8" rim drive for the standard (longer) 3/8"chain drive links.
You have to ditch the rim type & run an Oregon #28006 spur type for the OEM 3/8" LP.
I'd run the full house 3/8" chain if the bar sprocket fits it, but apparently yours does not.
I'm currently running that 9T rim type with standard 3/8" chain on a 10" hard tip bar, & it limbs out downed trees like a mad beaver. Start with a used chain, file/grind it razor sharp but don't lower the rakers & it pulls great.
I'm sure the kickback lawyers will get all bent out of shape because of this.
So your vote is that there is no such animal as 3/8lp-(?)-9 mini rim.
I'm just saying that if Oregon did make, or source, a LP-3/8" rim in the 9 spline type, I have never seen literature on it, nor an actual sprocket.

I did see that wildchld2svc still has those #18250 9 pin 1/4" rims & the 3/8" rims for a decent price on Fleabay...they're getting hard to find.
Those 4000's are impressive. Never ran one but hope to have one down the road someday. I imagine the Craftsman 3.7 thing ring I bought from Modifiedmark with a mild port job, gasket delete and muff mod runs similar to a 4000, but I have no comparison.

curious as to why you would want a 1/4" pitch chain on a S25 DA or equivelant. The saw has more than enough power to run the standard 3/8 LP, not to mention chain is much more common and cheaper than 1/4".Glad to be getting a grip on the situation with 3/8lp 9spline minis
I actually did order/buy the 1/4"spur sprocket fromwildchild2 and he canceled my order. I was worried I did something wrong....I email him and he apologized and just said he couldn't find it and I was OK with that. I bought one from another vendor.
I just got 2 10" hardface and a 12" hardface bar cheap so I can run 1/4 or 3/8lp 0r 3/8 on these bars on any 4 of my small micro xxv or s25da top handle poulans.

My 4200 has been sitting on the shelf going on two years now. repainted it and even have decals but haven't applied them.Nice! Looks to be an early 4200. Funny you post a pic of a 4200, I used my 4200 24" bar, yesterday to tackle some Ash trees, that we still had remaining. I used my PP-380 20" bar for some of them. I had some trouble gettin the old reliable 4200 to fire. I havn't touched these saws since last fall some time. I pulled the plug on the 4200. Didn't seem it was getting fuel. Poured a little fuel in the plug hole, and she sprang to life! Ran great the rest of the day.
Saved the largest tree for last. Huge tree that had wire fence grown into it. Made for some challenging foot work etc. to get at it. Had to notch and cut at about chest height. Let me tell you that 4200 isn't getting any lighter!
Mostly, I'm just getting a lot older. The power of that saw at only 69 cc's still amazes me.

Up early Gregg?
Hi Gregg

Hey Tim!! Hows everybody been these days? I don't get on here much anymore it seems. Will have to change that.
I havn't bought a new saw in ages, havn't even looked for one. LOL Probably missed a slew of bargain old Poulans on here or the Bay.
