This shelf is about full...

Those little side tables can't hold any more... And that little work space is just atrocious and is in serious need of some "straightening up". And those two little orange handles need to find a home.

And all these customer saws are finding their way back home soon. That'll at least free up some pallet space. I got too many dang trimmers back there (like 5-6) though. Takes up potential saw space.

I know you need and want more saws!!! Give in to the URGE and go saw shopping.

Pic 1 -I see future room on the tall shelves for 4 more saws! All you need is a couple cross braces for support, pull the shelf out about 8 inches away from the wall (loosing space in a room, workshop or garage for saws is absolutely acceptable) , rotate all the saws clockwise another 20-25 degrees and slide the saws apart( if they hang off a bit- so what) = 3 saws on each shelf.

Pic 2. There is room on the chair for another saw- who needs to sit.... For the table/work bench- just push those tools back = room for another saw.

And the 3rd pic- WOW there is soooooooooooooo much room not being utilized on those pallets = good for 4-5 more saws.

So let me see- Now you have new found space for up to 10-11 more saws!!! :surprised3: Not to mention - if you stack the pallets on cinder blocks there will be room underneath for even more saws. CAD requires space creativity.;) Hope I was helpful! Happy saw shopping! :innocent:

Well got cylinder off eBay coming, guy was asking 50, I told him 40 and he took it. Hopefully that and the piston kit will be here next week and I'll get those changed out and get this puppy running right. Both oilers work good so thats good to go.

Shoot, should have read this sooner. I have a nos 3400 p&c I would have let go for less than $80-90.

Just realized last night that 3400 has a 16" bar and safty chain on it, never looked at it til it was laying next to my 2000. What would be a good bar size for it, cutting mostly big oak, 20"?..

From personal experience here, using a 3400 as my only saw for 20+ years, (crazy, I know). :surprised3: Mine had a 18" from new, and used that for years. When I replaced that, I put a 20" on it. Used that for years, and never gave it much thought. Worked well. Then one day I was bucking up a good sized Ash tree at waist height. Ran out of gas. Instead of refueling, I just used my new to me at the time, 3700 with 20" bar. I noticed a very distinct difference in the amount of pressure you could apply to those two saws in the cut. The 61cc saw handled being "horsed" in the cut much better than the 56cc saw with same bars & chain. You needed to let the 3400 cut at its own pace so to speak, couldn't apply much added pressure. Its amazing what just 5cc difference makes.

So, I would say 18" is best on the 3400. But, can get by just fine with a 20". I later tried running a 16" on my 3400.
It will obviously handle it well. But, I did not like it at all. Felt like I was working with a stub. A 16" bar on a lighter, smaller saw just "feels" better. I like the added "reach" ya might say, with the 20". So personal feel and preference will dictate what size bar you want to run on your 3400. A 16, 18 or 20 are all good choices. No way I would run a 24".
The 18" bar & chain would get my vote as best for the 3400. Just my opinion, and we all know opinions are like a-holes, everybody has one!

Gregg,

The Poulan 5500 and 6000 were both built by Dolmar.

Hard to keep track of everyone that built Poulan saws. So all the older Poulan saws excluding the Roper saws are considered good right?

Also, do you know where I can find Modified Mark's Echo CS 900 EVL video?

If you could find him a P series saw for $125.00 he would be a happy man for sure. Running of course

Well they pissed me off. Emailed them and they called while I was busy chasing down my kids. Then they emailed me and called me again right after. Left a stupid childish email after that. I wouldn't get a saw from them even if they paid me to get it.

You passed on a 82cc saw for $125? Man, you are hard to please.

Just not what I am into.

Past on a couple of the pp655 long ago for $200. Just not into them.

Take a special saw to perk my interest anymore. Heck I had fun searching all over for a 60cc 3.7 craftsman. Not the one you guys think of either. ;)

What!? You passed on the PP655!? You're insane. That's my dream saw.

We should all call about it.
