Pulleys getting hard to come by, luckily I have a spare 3400 starter assembly and flywheel put up.

Delano1981 needs to post a couple of pics of his 4000 flywheel, while the starter is off it for the glue job.
So I’ve always assumed the “two” later pulleys (plastic pinned & dual slot steel hub) were used with the same latest flywheel 530039113, with the flat pawls. Is that correct?
Now that should be “three” different late style pulleys with this special machined pinned type, lol.
It was obvious that the all plastic 3400 pulley ratchets couldn’t take the torque of the higher compression & bigger bore size saws, and Poulan was scrambling to get a starter rotor design into production that could.

I looked at the 3700 and 4000 flywheel, the paws looked the same.

Couldn't you use the 4000 style pulley in the place of the pin type 3700?

Yes you can if you can find one, they are getting very hard to find. Easier to get a complete starter but the cost of them is going up fast

Thank you to everyone who have helped me with my 4000. Here are some pictures of the flywheel and pulley on my saw. I was able to start the saw this morning in spite of the pulley binding up somewhat. The epoxy seemed to work so far. It does not bind at all when the housing is off the saw. But when it is installed it binds and the rope barely makes it back in the housing if I fiddle with it. After the saw is running it does not bind at all, so I think now it may be an issue with the rubbing the flywheel maybe. I ran 2 tanks through the saw this morning cutting wood at the wood pile, and the oil pump is now working great. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on that issue. I ran the saw and pumped the manual lever while slightly revving it and in a couple minutes oil started coming out. So far the LRB piston is working well and I could feel it getting stronger on the second tank.

Looks good and hope it keeps going. If you get a chance to buy a pulley you should get one for the 4000
The pump sometimes gets a air lock and you did the correct way to get it working

Does mine look like the right one for my 4000? The one I have is like the one at the bottom of the left row in your picture
Yes & no, it will work fine, it is a modified 3700 pulley, the 4000 pulley is the one next to it. I personally have never had a pulley break of any of those. I own 35 saws in that series, I think most of the time they break when folks strong arm them. Because they won’t start
