Soo, is the ebay 8500 drama over now?

It brought $650 with shipping.

Anyone want to fess up? ;)

If it were me I probably wouldn't replying right now, as the misses would probably cut me in half with that saw for spending that kind of money Lol. Well congrats on sale, hope you get the Dolmar.

I fess up, I sold it. If the new owner is here and wants to step forward, that's up to him.
And he won it for $599 +actual shipping (which should total around $640ish) and I'm happy that he'll be getting a very good saw for his collection, and I'll have enough to help me buy something newer to use.

$640-$650, close enough.

Glad it worked out well for you. I really didnt think it would bring quite that much, but thats ebay. You never know. The exposure here could not have hurt anything either.

I'm still not sure it was worth $250 more then a completly rebuilt and restored 5200 but then thats just me.

Like I said, glad it worked out for you.

I dunno...nice saw but it was out of my price range. That Homelite 8800 for a couple hundred bucks less was very tempting. I was a good boy though....just sat and watched......also my wife noticed that I already have one of those. I was stupid enough to show it to her. She wasn't buying the argument that "but sweety, this one is a lot nicer than mine"....

A good Homlite 8800 is probably just as hard to find as a 8500 and should be worth just as much, and I have seen them bring more.

I have a near mint (from what I could tell) big Poulan coming real soon, for quite a bit less .

If I sell anymore I think I should post it here first next time.

I'm thinking of adding a few bucks and going w/a well kept Husqvarna 3120XP (which I can get for about the same money as a used 660)

Am watching that Poulan 4000 professional on ebay now, it's at $91 with 5 mins left, so I'm bowing out, more then I want to spend.

WOW that 4000 went for $205 with $20 shipping, and may possibly need a P&C after reading what the PO wrote about it. Hey Mark I think nows the time to sell an old Poulan................

Well if that one brought that and needed a piston, the one I just completly rebuilt would probably bring about $50 if I listed it on Ebay. :msp_scared:

That is beyond nuts....

But if you sell them they are gone....you will have to use a Husky or a Stihl.....:msp_sad::msp_sad:

You know I actually complained when I paid $175 for my 4000, and it ran and had a newer chain and 24" Oregon bar.

Wow the resale price of old Poulans has really exploded.............

Do you mean 03? the strato verstion was way later then 93.

Btw at the same time as any Wild Thing Poulan did make a antivibe version. They called them the Poulan Pro but then again they cost more!

Senior moment. Looked at sticker and it said 2006 Cal. emissions. THAT'S EVEN WORSE? Who would build a sasw in 2006 w/o anti-vibration? Saw starts on one pull and idle fines. Just have to figure out why it bogs down when the upper air inlet on the carb opens at full throttle.

Bob,

You have to remember the market these saws were made for!
They weren't meant to be run more than 15 minutes at a time, a couple of times a year.
A saw doesn't need AV when that is all the use it sees.
The owner it was built to supply won't run it long enough to be affected by the vibes.
The better question is.....What fool wouldn't pay the extra $40.00 to have a saw with AV?

Mike

The saw still ran, but because the clutch springs were so over heated they had relaxed to point they were useless, the clutch basically stayed engaged, and with the chain brake spring rubbing on the sprocket it wouldn't idle. I did try and keep the carcass but for some reason he wanted it back. I figure I can always use extra parts.

I didn't tell you guys but I actually sold him one of my grey Craftsman 3.7/20 for $100, he bought the thing in a second. I also showed him everything on how to use it and run, I'm preying for the best.
:bang::bang::bang:
Not because I need one, but it seems you condemned a saw worthy of keeping. Some MS290 or Husky 445 I would have said have at it. Maybe he'll learn to mix fuel someday, I won't hold my breath.

Me. Wild Things are way cuter.
Course I own three of the plastic ones now, and between them I have about $75-80 invested, including the purple chainbrake.

Agree Mike. Interestingly the Wildthing has a 125 hr. life whereas the PP4620 has something like 50-65 hrs. (I forget which). ?????????

what's the poulan 306a good for? found one on CL near me for $25 and thought about getting it for either parts to sell to 306a owners or maybe to fix if it doesn't need much... Any 306a owners want to comment???? where does the compression need to be? 130-160 maybe????

I have a 245a, similar to 306 and mine is a very good saw for big stuff like tree trunks, large limbs, etc. They are well thought of here, as far as I can tell, however they don't seem to bring as much as what I consider them worth. Mine's not for sale for that reason.
