I'm not interested in those at all. If you have to go through all the trouble of cleaning them up with thinner and all that, might as well just use a small touch up spray gun. You can control the pattern and paint output with the spray gun........

Yep, Good points. I have an old 1qt. spray gun I use to use for painting farm equip. Might as well just use that, or a smaller version of it. I'm a cheap old coot, and would still rather just use a rattle can. LOL Would be good enough for me and the girls I hang out with.:msp_tongue:

I didn't realize how expensive these things are now ($25+), I paid $6.99 if I remember right. It did work good and you can leave the paint in the can for as long as you want. I just cleaned mine up each time I used it. I needed it to touch up a gutter on a two story house and dragging a hose up with me wasn't going to work. A lot of "green" people, not Poulan green, use these for household reasons because its non-aerosol, also I don't think they like us chainsaw guys.
The price I got from Federated to have paint put in a small spray can was 40-50 bucks, that's just not worth all that either. The HPLV gun is best for this for not much more $'s. When I get ready I'll get a small gun probably. For me just finding the paint was more than half the battle.

We used to use them where I worked but not for paint. They worked great for oiling big items that you didn't want to rust. We sprayed military gun barrels with those things. They spray good for oil but I wouldn't recommend them for painting, the spray isn't precise or even enough.

3400 throttle response

My 3400 is slow (in my opinion) to wrap up to rpm. It'll run to 11,000 rpm WOT but is slow to get there. Does this sound like a carb kit? Idle is good, start is fair but it takes it a little time to wrap up. Sometimes dies coming back to idle or pulling the trigger off of idle.

Sounds like a carb cleaning to me. Could be in carb metering needle or lever is sticking or dirt

never done yet..

I use a small touch up gun somthing like this one. Touch-Up Air Spray Gun

It works fine. I'm with you on that being too much money for paint being put into a spray can, I can buy a full quart of Valspar acrylic enamel for that. I can actually buy down to a half pint at a time as well. The hardner is what gets you.

Got word today that a member from here is picking up a saw for me tomorrow. I cant thank him enough for it either.

So someday when I get the saw home, I guess I'll post it up hear in the Poulan thread for you guys to see, since we dont have a ALLIS CHALMERS thread in this place.

I don't think an Allis Chalmers thread would generate much of a following!

You probably already know this but NAPA sells an "economy" version of their hardener, or at least they used to, I haven't bought any lately. The difference in the price of the two types is quite a bit. I bought some of the cheaper stuff and really couldn't tell the difference between it and the high priced stuff.

There is an outlet on the right side of the muffler. At least there should be unless someone replaced the muffler. Suppose you could enlarge it a bit.
Bob

Yes, mine has the outlet on the right side. I have a welder that I am just learning to weld with. When I get good enough I might try welding a tube on the side like the one I saw on a post somewhere on this site.

Those both run real well! Even that funny orange looking thing. What size bar are you running on your 4000? Looks to be at least 24". Thats the biggest bar I have tried yet on a 4000. They will handle 20" or 24" equally well. Now you know why I like them so much. I have 4 of them..:msp_ohmy: LOL

For $20 I would buy one every day of the week, or at least one, if I could ever find such a deal.

Gregg,

It is a 24" bar. I forgot to mention in my previous post that I am running a new Woodland Pro 30RC chain with 81 links and I replaced the old sprocket (drive) with a new one also. Yeah, both of those saws are running very well, and it is only possible because of everyone on this site who has helped me and all the great info found here.

Thanks everyone.

2 hours with a 25

But, I had just spent $26 on a loop of stihl RSC for another saw that all of the sudden has no spark:mad2: All the wood is from the October blizzard that took trees down all over. I spent the first half of thanksgiving morning cutting trees at my inlaws and all the 6"-10" oak and cherry came from there. The 12"-20" maple came from next door to my parents. 2 1/2 truckloads. I had cut most of it to 4'-6' and then stacked it next to my shed. Turns out it was more wood than I thought! So after "a saw whose brand I wont say" refused to start I went to my arsenal. the 3.7s and 4000s were too big, and I was wanted to use something different than my Dolmar 540 and 2.8. (you know you have CAD when these thoughts go thru your head). This S25CVA had given me fits about a month ago when I used it. I had just went thru the whole thing: New antivibe mounts, fuel system, base gasket removal, flipped rings, new condensor. The works. And it wouldnt run right. Frustrated, I put it aside. Yesterday I gave it a shot. Re-set the carb and it fired, couple more adjustments to the idle and I pushed it hard for 2 hours. I must say, this saw threw chips far. Very far! Anyway, awesome saws.
Doesnt look like much but the pile was 6' long, 4' high and wide.

love it man!!!!!!

Now Joe,

You know you shouldn't be posting stuff like this!!!

You might ruin those S25's bad reputation!!!LOL:msp_tongue:

Mike

Haha I know! I have a real nice late model S25DA on the to do list right now. Got it with a bunch of others and was told it was junk and locked up. I pulled the starter, and true it didn tmove but, it didnt seem locked, well it wasnt. Somehow a recoil cover scre got between the flywheel and coil! That saw has very good compression.
