i am in northern central usa , thats where i have always worked.. It gets so cold up here in the winter i dont do hardly any tree work.... i think about going south never have though.... I dont think i would like to worry aobut rodents and bees.... I talked to a few guys from ohio they sounded like they made money hand over fist... Whats it like working in the south ? i would would think it would be awfully hot... anyone out there tryed working in different parts of the country. Can anyone who has made a major move explain how it worked out for them.

i have had people from minneapolis,mn. call me , because they said the prices down there were insane.

One fellow told me he had bids vary from 1700.00 to 8500.oo for the same work.. It was to far for me to think even think about it.

From 1980-86 I migrated from Key West in the winter to Madison WI in the summer--it was GREAT! In Key West I built and lived in tree houses on friends' properties, in Madison rented rooms from students who took semesters off. Best of both worlds.

Finally got bored and picked a place in between with a lot of "growth"--which means death for trees unless an arborist comes in. 17 years later, I look back on the nomad days as a really special time. If you don't want to freeze and starve, just move!

Won't work if you're not at least a semi-independent operator, or are able to get adopted by someone.

Them city kids think they are too good to work also. Most want way too much money to help you drag brush or load logs.

You just have the wrong city kids. I have found many willing to work hard for a GOOD wage. Of course they are from cities like Tegucigalpa, Monterrey, Toluca, Oxaca, GTO, San Louis Potosi.....;)

I consider anything north of Waco as "Way Up North" :p
