What wood do I need?
Organized races? or just make a bunch of chips?
Anybody have a saw mill? I would love to see one in action.
Steve

P.S. Can we make this a sticky? Moderators?

I am still very interested and have a buddy that wants to attend also. I have never been in a saw race (except when cutting firewood with my buddy) but would be willing to try if there was a stock saw (not stock appearing) class. I got a whole bunch of huge saws to bring.

I will be there. I am up for anything as long as many wood chips fly! I dont have a sawmill, but I can take the bar off of the SP125 and put it on the Mac110 and then it will be a milling saw right?:ices_rofl:

Please tell us again what the dates are and where you are holding it?

April 14/15 in Edinburg VA. I don't know the exact address yet, but if you p.m. Scooterbum I'm sure he will give it to you.

Man I wish I could make it. Edinburg, VA would be about a 7 hour drive for me, but I've driven a lot farther! Just can't get the time off from work! :(

Whats goin on fellas? When this idea first came up people were jumping all over it. I'd love to see it happen but thus far there does not seem to be the same interest level. What gives?

I spoke with Scooterbum tonight (tues. 4/10/07) and the event is cancelled due to lack of response. Dang I was looking forward to it. Oh well I'll be at the next one or maybe Tommy and I will put one together.

I would love to have come, but I missed the thread where the date was announced. Found the date too late to make plans.

If you do schedule one, set the date early, and annouce it OFTEN, not just once, a few months before the date!

I really think this one died for lack of publicity.

Okay, here's the list:

1st mention of this weekend as a POSSIBLE date:

http://www.arboristsite.com/showpost.php?p=596275&postcount=49

2nd mention of this weekend, hoss confirming that date is good for him:

http://www.arboristsite.com/showpost.php?p=597342&postcount=53

3rd mention of this weekend, and the FIRST and ONLY post to make it definite from the organizer:

http://www.arboristsite.com/showpost.php?p=600746&postcount=59

That was also a full two months before the event. Plenty of time for a thread to die, and memories to fade.

4th and LAST mention of this weekend, a month before the event:

http://www.arboristsite.com/showpost.php?p=610190&postcount=77

That was good timing, but it only happened because someone asked, and it was not confirmed by the organizer of the event.

On THIS thread, no mention of the date until a week before the event.

I'm not trying to rag on you, and I really DO appreciate you trying to put this together. I'm just pointing out that dates need to be set early enough (I'd say this was) and then mentioned OFTEN and authoritatively, that is, by the host.
