Try some FRESH green Scotchbrite. I think that it is the mildest scotchbrite with any abrasives. Be sure to was thoroughly with soap and water to remove any remaining abrasive before installing.

White is the fine version.

Do not waste time and effort unless you want to do experiments on chemical/physical treatments and document the great results so other scholars can learn in the future.

Besides vinegar, lye will work on it, but also on the aluminum. Go dilute.

Again test the crown first and have some water handy to rinse it with. Maybe apply and scrub with a stiff toothbrush.

It looks there is just a film and the machine marks are still there underneath.
