Hindered 026 Stihl
Hey there,
I'm not much of a wood tick either but I have a 2003 MS260 and it seemed rich until I opened up the muffler.
I drilled two holes (3/8" one over and one under) adjoining the existing opening. Be sure to remove the muffler from the saw first and clean it when done (you don't want ANY metal shavings in the motor) also remove the screen first (duh).
My saw runs a little bit leaner because of this (it may have been rich) but the RPM is higher now and it cuts fine. The plug has a light tan hue (which I believe is perfect). If I have problems with fuel mix when the seasons change or I go up into the mountains for wood, I'll get an adjustable carb for it. For now it seems right on the money.
I'd get a new bar if it doesn't spin freely. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Fill bar oil and file chain when re-fueling. Clean air filter every 4-8 hrs (or so), use 91 or 92 octane fuel no older than 3 months and store in metal if possible.
And...I learned all this here!
