I traded for a sears 2.3 CID/16 ' chain saw that I want to repair for my one use and I can not get it to oil. The model # is 358.355061, it is an all metal saw with good balance and I need one for cleaning up around the place. Everything works fine except the oiler. The saw has a plate below the bar that comes off and exposes a round plastic fixture that has a foam filter in it. It has a oil line (which I replaced) that goes to the slot in the case where the oil feeds to the bar and chain. It has to be a system that pressurizes the tank to force oil to the bar. It has no outside line and I can not see one in the tank without breaking the case (which I didn't want to do). I ordered a manual for it and it was no help. Any help would be appreciated. Tom

I just looked at one that I have (parts saw) and your correct this saw pressurizes the tank for oiling.

The oil hose in the oil slot on mine was sticking out of the case far enough to block oil flow. Check that and remove that cover and start the saw and see if you can tell if there are pressure pulses coming from the brass nipple in the center of the foam donut.

Im thinking mabye fuel residue gummed up the little passage in the nipple and it cant get the pressure pulse past.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the nipple tomorrow and see if it is stopped up. I don't think is the case but I will check to be sure. Tom
