So I went to go look at the 660 today...or really yesterday and I really liked what I saw. The sales guy smirked and said get ready. I said why and he replied that my hands were gonna be tingly and numb after 10 min. I was kinda expecting a large saw to be a bit rougher than a normal little saw, and keep in mind I am used to an 044. My question to you all is: I heard or should I say read that stihl is issuing a new saw next year that is the 661. Same as 660 but with vibe reduction like 441. Is this true? Let me know and thanks a million to you dealers that have the info and insight =) right on

I don't know anything about the 661, but my 660 is no rougher to run than your 044.

I've got a 441 myself and don't really even notice the 660 being rough.

I think the 661 (or maybe it will be 662) will have a lot more differences from the 660 than just the anti-vibe, and I don't think it will be out next year......;)

Maybe by 2010 or 2011.... maybe... The biggest saws will be the last to change.. EPA credits in the USA allow this, but not Europe. Maybe Europe will get to test it first this time ;)

i always thought the 044 was smooth.

i think chain selection makes a big difference.i am not impressed with the 441.i like the 044 better.

I never noticed the vibes on a 66 as being bad. But all saws with anti vibe make me really happy compared to the old solid mount saws. Maybe I am a sissy but those were painful.

Or China, I hear theirs a billion people waiting in line for Stihl to open up. LOL

They are wainting in line outside the factory, hoping to get in and get a job.
No BS, that's how it works in China and India. People live in tents outside.

So.. you've been there and seen it for yourself, or have you been watching TV again? Sure you might be able to find a factory with tents somewhere.., but have you ever seen the huge dormitories built to house the workers? Some is temporary worker-only housing so they can save enough to move the family from the county to the city.
Even today's Japan has them.. so workers can stay close to the factory, but commute home for the weekends. 3+ hour comute each way is not good for worker productivity.

Grab an airline ticket and travel the world... it will dispel much of what you "know" about other cultures..

I am in agreement with Peter that India and china for the most part are third world **** holes.

As are parts of the USA... but not ALL or China OR India are... Both have areas of fabulous weath and incredible poverty.. as do many other countries.. be careful with the stereotypes.. they can bite you... sooner than later.

The worst ghetto in the US is pretty good by indian standards. Heck, just take a look at per capita income of either China or India.
