I think it's your avatar. LOL

Hey, I meant "acts". I didn't mention anything about his looks.:) BTW, he must have some redeeming quality, he has Witchy. That's all I need to know about that.

I happened to look at one of my posts and found that I am a Senior member. I like that, but I just wondered how I qualified for that. I also noticed that above my feedback little green things I got a star thing. What is that and how did I get it. I really tried to find this stuff, but I must be a poor searcher or something cause I couldn't find it. It's just nice to know. Thanks and please excuse my ignorance. JR

Thats the wierdest thing I was just wondering the same thing just now and couldnt find anything searching thanks for posting this question!

I just noticed a couple blue thingys in my rep and wondering if thats neg rep? If it is I will be pissed because one of them is a faker and shouldnt even be wasting space here. jmo

The blue thingys mean that you got no points from that person as they either have negative/red rep or have not made 50 posts.
If someone neg reps you it will be a red thingy that apears in your cp page.

Thanks that makes sense in more ways than one! :)

OK!

The first dark one is free, the ramaining dark ones and the first light one are 150 points each (1500 points) - the remaining light ones and the first golden one are 250 points each (3500 points total at that point) - the remaining golden ones are 800 points each, and you need 800 more to get the "supernova" + one dark green one.

That is 11,500 points - and then you start all over again, for the next Nova.

Its changed a bit in the last year now you give out a point for each 200ish (was 150) points you have + 1 point for your first 50 posts + 1 for your first 100 posts + 1 for your first 500 posts and an extra 1 piont for every 1000 posts.
+ 1 point for each referral
and i think + 1 point for each year you are a member.

If I pos repped you and gave 1000 points If i neg repped you you would lose 500 points its half of the pos rep points.

You now need to rep about 75 (was 50) people before you can rep the same person again and can only rep 5 people in any 24 hours (used to be 7)

If you want something other than Arboristsite MVP below your name you need to ask a MOD nicely.

The system maxes out at 28 novas + all the colored bars but the points total still goes up.

Any more questions? lol

No when you pos rep someone they get points from you and that total is a combination of all the stuff below.

You must have about 7500 points total /200 =38 +1 pont for your first 50 posts and another point for the first 100 so you should be giving out about 40 points total

I have
319125 points /200 =1595 + the 1+1+1+1+1
So i should be giving out around 1600 points ish

Ok got it thanks again scotclayshooter I am sure this answers many peoples questions as well! Have a great Christmas and New Year!

From your answer and others I now think I've got it. I guess I never paid much attention to the rep thing for quite a while. It is a good way of knowing if you are contributing. I know the Scot's were good at lots of things beside just Scotch. JR

Well I have gotten old. Turned 58 on election night. I have found that there is more gravity than there used to be. I used to be able to dunk a basketball, not sure that I can touch the rim any more. Obviously that is because of the increase in gravity. We should not be worried about global warming (no sign of that here) we should be looking into this gravity thing. JR

Just wait. Not only does gravity increase with age, the floor gets further and further away. I am hoping someone will invent velcro closures for work boots.

I hear ya there. At 6' 3" the damned floor was far enough away to start with. It seems WAY far away first thing in the morning, and doesn't get all that close all day. If for some reason I get down on the floor I almost need to hire Shirpa's to get back up from it. Oh well it beats the alternative as they say. JR

I believe you got it right, except that it started out as one per 100 (may have been before you joined).

For years the rep system was left more or less unused, but suddenly it became a sport of its own........ :givebeer:
