OK time for another dumb question

I have repped a few people, but it doesn't seem to show up on their info even though the site acknowledged that I did it. Is there a reason for that? I am just trying to give rep to people that I feel deserve it for contributing with something that makes me laugh or was very thoughtful. I like getting it, but I feel it should be earned rather than bartering/begging for it.

Yes it is working, but your a junior guy, therefor you don't carry much CLOUT!! You did give some points out but not enough to make another green light, light up. Guys that have been around longer and have more rep, give more points each time they rep someone. Anyway, that's the way I understand it.

You need 50 posts before your rep carry any points - they show up as "neutral" before that.

If you desperately want some rep there's a beg for rep thread. I think people just swap out positive reps. Kinda like you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. I guess it's all in fun though.

I have occasionally read of someone being banned. Exactly what is banned, and how does one become "banned", and is this a permanent situation, or can amends be made?

On most forums you can be banned for a set length of time, or just banned altogether. And to prevent people re-registering under a different name, you can have your IP address banned so no more forum fun... being banned just means you can't login, so can't post or access any forums only open to logged in people.
