feel the love Wayne, feel the love........we're coming to the rescue, Kemo Sabe.

I heard on TV that accumulations were around 1/2 inch. You need +3/4 for a really bad storm.

Though i could bring a few people down for the weekend....

You're right about that, I think more is forecast.
an inch would be the point of traveling, I'm thinking. unless someone had a bunch of calls/work, and needed help. But my experience has been local guys WANT all the work, for themselves, and won't ask for help, and miss out on volume. Don't blame em, but it's not the best way to be, IM(not so)HO.

Kentucky's storm last winter was 1" - 1 1/2" + and was really bad. We cleaned up pretty good, made some $$ and helped a LOT of people.

A buddy and i tried to work it, but we had a marginal two days when another system moved in. Our area was supposed to get socked with snow and neither of our wives run the snowblowers well. We looked at waiting in the rain for two days and called it off. Of course it turned out not so bad...

yeah I just heard about it coming towards you guys on the weather channel now. We got an ice storm here of about 1/2 inch last year and it was a total mess. Trees across roads and many of the softwoods were severly damaged. I can't imagine 1 1/2 inches. That must be nuts! Stay safe..... Mike

Thats a cool slideshow. Luckily the day of our little ice storm it got warm and the roads were pretty passable. The best part for me was helping people out. Nothing quite like cutting open an old couples driveway and how thankful they are. We didn't get rich but we got alot of nice new customers. Thats been paying off dividends ever since. Mike

I have crews already on the way down and getting more ready. I dont think the accumulation will be anywhere near last years totals but time will tell.

Not much of anything yet, they "think" a half to one inch of ice right now. 1/2" might not be much, but they are also calling for steady 25mph winds with gusts, that changes everything.

Yes wind with weighted down limbs can change things alot.
Where you at in this great State of Kansas, sawinredneck?

Not too bad so far here in NE OK. This one isn't anything like the one back in 07. A few patchy areas with damage but nothing catastrophic so far.

A lot of trees (most) lost around a third of their canopy in the ice storm of 07 here. In most areas there were literally no trees that went untouched. Couple that with an aggressive line clearance campaign and residents doing preventative maintenance after learning lessons in 07, there will be nowhere near the damage there was in 07 here.

We are right in the SW corner of Missouri, it looks like very little ice and possibly 6-8" of snow, no big deal, I hate to have crews on the way for what looks like no big deal at this point. With it being a very rural area NE Ok, NW Ar an SW Mo, a lot of the people own saws and take care of their own.

It hasn't even started yet give it time. I think there will be areas that see 3/4-1" of ice it is just going to depend on where.

reporting in from Tulsa 11:37pm... outside temp is 29f degree ... freezing rain stopped several hours ago.

went for a drive at 10pm... roads all clear... nowhere near as much ice on trees as expected. freezing rains were predicted to start at 6:30am... light freezing rains arrived at 3:30pm

unless ice really builds up tomorrow... no where near damage predicted. 2007 damage was HUGE, power down for 2.5 weeks... almost no trees escaped undamaged. most weak branches has already been purged.

looking like, no way this ice storm will produce anywhere near damages of 2007

We've got less than an inch of snow on the ground, this looks like it's going to be a mother to predict!
