Hey, I looking for an old style (metal flywheel) crank for an 066. Obviously it needs to be in good shape, no up and down play.
Needed one yesterday, can anyone hook a brother up?

Anyway, I am building a half old style and half new style saw. Split the case on an old style 066, put ceramic bearings in it, but the gasket was toast and my dealer did not have one.
So I jimmy rigged a new style gasket, put the case back together. The bearings spun the crank like it was a dream.
Put a new style tank on, metal flywheel, piston and cylinder kit - matching tri-ported muffler and face plate.
Went to put the clutch back on and notice a crack on the end of the crank where the e-clip goes. I tapped it and half of the end broke off.
Some how whoever removed it banged it and cracked it up. Tried it anyway and to no avail was I able to get the clip to stay on.
My so called gasket rip won't work anyway.
So I just order and new gasket and seal kit and good used crank.
When all is said and done I will have an old style saw that looks new. New style starter cover, chain cover, MS660 top cover, new style tank and big dawgs.
I'll let ya know.

Oh no, the T word. :greenchainsaw:

Let us common folk know how those ceramics hold up for you in a couple of months would ya? I couldn't image a better proving grounds than were you're at.

I know exactly how he'd "fix it". Put on the circlip and bash the end of the crank with hammer until it's mushroomed over!:yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:

I know where there is a "perfectly good" Ebay 066 with the end of the crank buzzed with an arc welder... That clip isn't ever coming off! Pity it needs a new sprocket real bad..

Ours only fits saws after serial number X 33 917 066. I've had a couple of folks tell me the run out on these aftermarket shafts is less than the OEM.

Runout is usually short for Total Indicated Runout or TIR. A measurement of the difference of the radial position of the crank main bearing fits compared to the centers on the ends of the crank. Less TIR means that the crankshaft is "straighter". The more in line the crank is, the easier it is on its bearings, it will vibrate less, and last longer. With runout, less is more.
