I am getting ready to purchase an older 2nd hand 1625 (with one rear wheel in centre) and wanted to ask if they have any particular faults to look for. (I currently run a dosko 20hp 691 and are fairly familiar with the general ins and outs of the various machines, but wondered if anyone has any advice on this particular model?

Thanks

Welcome to site, I had a similiar 1620 with single front wheel and was very happy with it grinding ability. Could sometimes be a little unstable on a slope because of the single front wheel. You should be able to double up drive wheels and that will help with stability. I am pretty sure that rayco now has a refit kit to add a 4 wheel stance to the older machines, not sure of cost but might be helpful if terrain has lots of incline. The old one I bought was a towable model and had some stress cracks under the engine from being dragged around the streets. After I fixed them I always put it on a trailer and did not have any trouble. It paid for itself many times over. Good luck with your machine.:)

I have the same exact machine. You want to make sure you keep the teeth sharp all the time,it just doesnt have the horsepower to grind stumps efficiently when the teeth are dulled. The worst thing about it is that it moves very slow, about half the speed of crawling on the ground
