Here is what I get for measurements;

pin to crown
238-.507
242-.558

cyl base to head
238-2.20
242-2.35

238 con rod seems to be shorter but hard to measure as the 2 rods have different shoulder profiles.

Guess tonight I will swap pistons and try it myself.

pin to crown
242-.553

cylnder base to head
242- 2.37

i will go measure the 238 stuff shortly be sure that you measured from the base on the 238 and not from the cylinder that protrudes from the base of the cylinder. Also when i put the 242 cylinder on the 238 it would bolt on and turn over but the top cover would not bolt on because the cylinder was to tall an it had aroud .170 for squish and the piston would drop way down past the bottum of the exhaust port. Later Troy

Just a little piece of info that may or may not make a difference;

All 242s weren't the same - as the rated power was different between the early ones and the xp ones. I have no clue what made that difference though......:givebeer:

The earlier plain 242's had smaller ports in the cylinders. I don't remember any other differences, but probaly there are.

To do a swap you will need the 242 cover.

One of the common things with 100-200 series Huskies is that the squish decreased with model updates.

This makes measurements of no real use unless the same model years are measured.

Droping below exhaust port is also common on some older Huskies.
