The referrals and repeats are the jobs that make money. It is a little hard sometimes to get repeats if you do mostly takedowns, but the neighbor always seems to have one. I don't make my full living doing the work, just enough in the summer to support my hobby of teaching at the college, but I seem to always have spending money after the bills in the summer when I am "unemployed" as compared to the winter. I work with a retired mail carrier who did the work in the area for many years before I moved in and it is entirely word of mouth advertising, no print ads of any sort. This is a community of 2500 with the nearest city, about 30,000, 80 miles away. It supports three full time lawn services and 1 3/2 tree services, (3 part time). The trimming and fancy work is where the continuing money is, you return every year and pick up a big job occasionally as a windfall. Look into the Plant Health Care approach and learn to market that. You will end up working for high end clientele, need less costly equipment, and have more satisfied customers since they will still have their tree when you leave the yard.

Memphis Job

Arboles:
.
I have a job in old mid town memphis that I looked at today. Customer is in somewhat of a rush to get it done. No way I can get to it. Close quarters, as you would expect in mid town. Somewhat time consuming as most all wood needs to be lowered, but the trees are small. Three removals and 2 to 3 limbs off another 4 or 5 trees around their house. The only real weight above/near the house is a cherry aprox 24" DBH (one to be removed).
Probably most of a day's work. PM me if you are interested.
