Yeah, and usually a long way between branches!

Here's the view out of my back door.

Jammy sod! reckon i'd struggle to park the 8 wheeler in that yard...
where about in brissie are you ekka?

Believe it or not a place called Springwood.

We park all our stuff out the front, it's like a carpark. And the garage is detatched from the house so you don't have to walk through it everytime you come and go. I thought it would be a pain at first but it's actually better.

Hey, in summer the water temp of the pool goes to 32 deg c , now it's sitting around 22 deg c and it's winter. The ocean temp in winter is around 21 deg c and summer goes to 25 deg c

No wetsuits in summer here mate, just uv wear.

Ekka, I used to work for brisbane tree experts in Rochedale - are they still going?
my Wife has an auntie in Belmont, and 2 brothers in everton hills...
Must get back back there sometime

It is difficult because my office is in the family room with 3 kids and dogs and wife. I have to explain all that time that "I am not really home but rather, I am at work". Just ignore me and keep quiet." It doesn't work...they figure out that the guy in the chair is DAD and then the questions start, the tattletaling, etc. starts... I found that headphones helps with the distractions if I am working on the computer..

Yeah yellowdog, I know where you're coming from.

We used to have our office in the bedroom, atleast you can close the door.

We made sure when we moved that we had room for an office thingy. In this house the kids have the lounge and I have the family room, that's PC, TV/Video/DVD etc and xbox online ... and the beer fridge is not far either ... crikey, why would you want to go to work?

I think having an off-site location for your equipment is tied with having a rural-ish location where you can live and have everything there too. As you grow, though, you will eventually reach the point where you want to get away from the business because it becomes much more than just you.

Whatever you do, it's nice to have a garage set-up to work on equipment and park things inside.

The original statement was about being distracted, whether at work or play. It is because you do not have a rock solid schedule. Your subconscious is feeling guilty about family things while at work and work things when it should be family time. Take a stand for your family and your business. Don't let either be compromised. You do it all because your family is worth it! Isn't it?

My home office and carpark

Hey,

This is how our joint looks out the front and office inside.

Ekka, that's a neat-looking operation in a new-looking house and neighborhood. Very different here; my pool's bigger, and the carp clean it for free!

I won't show a pic of the office; too scary. This is the view from the office window.

Holy toledo  don't you own a chainsaw ... it's true, you are are tree hugger trying to save and cable everything, man you live in a jungle ... can't see the forest for the trees.

... just kidding, looks very nice. :p

I didn't think you guys had that pesky carp over there?

Ekka I've thinned the jungle quite a bit, left many, planted many. Trees are good, right? as for carp, they're not pesky or pests but brought in for cleaning.

Trees are good, without them I can make no money.

Now those carp are another issue. They have stuffed up our rivers and killed off the good fish like cod, perch, trout, bass, redfin and they make the water dirty and muddy. They were introduced here in 1964 and within 20 years destroyed the waterways eco system. Extract:

Destruction of fragile aquatic macrophytes (water plants)
Increase in turbidity
Damage to stream beds and irrigation channels
Nutrient enrichment of waterways leading to algal blooms
Competitive interactions with desirable fish species
Introduction of new parasites and diseases to desirable fish species.

It is illegal here to return a carp to the water once caught, it must be killed.
