I'm looking for opinions on stump grinder tooth configurations. I have seen configurations of two straight and then left and right and have also seen configurations of one straight and a left or right etc.
Just wondering which configuration works best

How many teeth are on your cutter wheel and how many hp is your machine?

I know what doesn't work real well is having all straight! When I bought my machine new the ******* fitted all straight teeth.

Right straight
left straight
r-s
l-s
r-s
l-s.

Undoubtably other configurations can work but that is balanced and the way Rayco was shipping new portable machines when I got mine.

Yeah, for 20 hp I go same as stumper reckons.

For bigger hp I go 2 straights, left and right, 2 straights, left and right etc .

Can't prove any scientific differences but I tried the bigger hp configuration on the smaller machine and it struggled.

I then tried the smaller configuration on the bigger machine and found it took longer to do stumps, not as ruthless!

Good question.

I just did a demo on the Rayco 1631 and they were set up with the higher hp configuration that Ekka just mentioned, from the factory by Rayco. Worked great.
