I am looking for a high-quality sharpener, would you guys recommend the Oregon 511A or the Maxx, or something better? Where is best place to buy either of these tools?

Ebay seems to be the best place to buy both. Go for the Buy it Now auctions with free shiping. 511A for around $295.00 shipped anywhere in the US. Maxx seems to be about $300.00.

Otherwise check out one of the Sponsors.

Seriously, this question was addressed in a post you made last night as well as a bunch of old posts. Use the search function and read what has already been said about these products, and then form your own opinion.

If you have specific questions about the products, that's fine, but seeing the same question asked by the same member two nites in a row?! Come on.

:sucks:

sorry for the confusion guys, just wanted to know which was better, or are they both of equal quality? I will go through ebay, how about Stens, do they have them? I know they often have reasonalbe prices. Hydraulic clamping? what is that, do I need it?

All of these could have been addressd n the other thread but it's cool, you're a newbie!

The hydraulics clamp the chain as you pull the wheel down. The cheaper models use springs instead, works the same just a little harder. The really cheap ones you have to lock each time with a thumb screw. As far as I know the Maxx and Oregon are very cloesly matched feature wise, but I am not sure.
