Guys???? I never ever hear about anyone in here running the Oregon LGX chain. What gives??? I was die hard Stihl chains on everything and they seemed to stand up/hold up better than any I'd found. Since I tried the LGX at Scott and Steve's recommendation(the 2 guys from the Cutting Edge sponsors) about a year ago I pretty much swear by it. Although I don't particularly care for the standard oregon chisel chain I've tried... I keep seeing all these posts about what chain to use and the different types out there but never anything about this new LGX chain. It has like a blued tint to the teeth, it's the temper from hardening I'm sure... Anyways, I cut a LOT of wood that's dirty, I hit stones sometimes, and just am abusive in general to my chains. These suckers seem to stand up to it better than pretty much any I've tried. So who else on here has tried it?? Who'd like to try it??? Who on here has never even heard of it or known about it??? I use it on my 266/288XP's, my 7900/510, These are my main saws I use all the time, but I cut in the neighborhood of 100 Face cord of wood every year with these with these exact chains... Thoughts??? Comments??? Somebody gimme some input eh?

I like it and I fixed some neighbors and the local shop up with it and so far most ppl like it. Some poo poo it for the driver issue, but thats minor and par when any product is changed.

What's the driver issue??? I've never had any problems whatsoever... I would like to try the LPX sometime...

I have not run this particular one, but I have heard it cuts pretty good and intend to try a loop in the future...

I bought 2 loops of that for my old Super XL-12 and I really like it! Matt

So would I.

From the little experience I have with it, the LGX is OK - but I like LP and RSC better, as they cut smoother - and so would LPX, I'm sure.

LG/LGX is lacking the low-vibe chassis, that the others have.

I haven't notised LGX to hold up better or worse than the others, but I mostly cut green&clean birch, and touch up every second tank or so.....

A few days ago I got my 2 loops of the LGX chain for my 970 and 044, 20" bars (yes, I've actually, physically started the rebuild on the 044), and 2 loops of the JGX (skiptooth) which will be for the 28" bar for the 044. I think I'll be saving a 20" loop for the 044's first cutting. Chain came from Bailey's.

The LP that came with my 7900 didn't last long so I am searching for a replacement, but I am also buying a 24" b/c for it, so I will look at it for sure, not to jack your thread but do you run .58 or .50 on your 7900?

Maybe I'm confused, I am just trying to learn, but I have to disagree with you. I'm looking at a catalog right now and the LGX chains are listed as "Vibe-Ban" low vibration chassis chains. I also have a piece of it and it has the small arrow on the cutter that identifies it as a low vibration chain. Why do you think it is different, it uses the same tie straps and chassis parts as the other 3/8 chains?

That's correct. In fact, all of Oregon's 3/8 pitch chain is listed as Low-Vibe.

I'm very pleased with LGX. I have several loops in 20" and 24". I purchased some from Tony at Amick's. They are top notch as well.

Looking at Oregons sites right now makes me a bit confused - the US and CA sites list the LGX and LPX, without any mention of the low-vibe feature. The Euro one mention the LP with low-vibe, and the LG without, as it used to be in NA as well.

I think we need Oregon Engeneer, to set this streight.....

ST,

You're making this way too complicated. Why do we need specs and engineers? If someone runs LGX and it performs, then we have our answer.

With upmost affection,

Sure enough, I have used the LGX and like it - but the 5100 did cut smoother with the ol' LP ( it was new) - wibe-ban or not......:D

ciscoguy,

If you run it and like it who really cares what others opinions are?

You should save the caring for felling trees.:D

Wow. All the silly threads here and you jump on the Cisco Kid? His post indicated that he likes it and I suppose he is wondering if someone that's run it has another chain they like better.

Or, you could search for a deeper meaning,

Joat

I have a new loop of LGX for my 32 inch bar but haven't used it yet. Also the LPX is a safety chain with bumpers.
