yesterday one of my guy, got nail for standing on top of the catwalk on the bucket truck, cutting a low branch with out a harness we were at a target parking lot. The guy spent 2 hour interviewing all of us on the job, the funny thing is this is the same inspector that nail my other buddy about 4 years ago that was about $2000

Got to do work safely in public areas (too many eyes) . However doing it safe is best so everyone goes home at night.

I believe in doing things safe, but sometimes they are a little rediculas. Next they will tell us we are supposed to be clipped in while you climb up the ladder and walking those 3 steps to get in the bucket.

Make sure you wear your harness to inspect the boom every morning before using it to.

They are our new 'Parent's', We are constantly keeping up with their requirement's and the paper work is so insane, we have an employee in the office that has to deal with this. They will pull up and check you out and you will get hit on several area's.
I think the next one is 'providing 16 gallon's of water per person'--:dizzy:

Ask if beer is good enough.

My brother runs a ac central air sheet metal plant in Maryland and got busted by osha. He had respirators at stations even through he didn't need them but since he didn't have a respirator "plan" set up and organized they fined him 8K. Messed up. They told him he didn't even need them.

it needed to happen some of the guys go up in a tree no hard hat, belt, rope with a chainsaw,( our company inforces,I mean preaches the safty standard) but some think when no one watching they can get away with it, ive complain to higher till im blue. but I think now it open some eyes plus now ive got the inspector card.Me I think it stupid to not spend the extra 10-20 min to use the proper equipment I mean a slip from 10'or a lite touch to the legs from a chainsaw no matter what size saw could be a life changer

The only way is Strict enforcement!
If I pull up and thing's ain't right, well, you will get wrote up and maybe an office visit may help.
I know it is different with small outfit's, but with 8 climber's and 6 groundie's, it seem's easy to keep everyone on the same page. They look out for each other.

some times its the only way, yesterday my crew got back to the shop early so I got sent out with the log truck to grab logs from one of the other crews well all four of um didn't have there hard hats on and I didn't even see um on the ground anywhere I'm sure the pic I took will be on the bulletin board Tuesday morning only sucky thing about that is since I was caught as I was walking out the door I forgot to grab my hard hat out of my truck so I didn't have one either :buttkick: we try and enforce at least the basic safety stuff pretty hard there was a minor head injury a few years ago that the insurance would not pay for why? because he did not have his hard hat on...

One of my little pleasures last week was chasing off the manager from the jobsite because he walked into it with no PPE on! I ran a tight ship running my own business all of those years and will not tolerate stupidity from the higher ups now that I am working for a larger outfit. And yes, the eyes are always watching you in public places, waiting for you to mess up....
