i wonder what the whole story is here!

he's definately lucky he missed his eye.

i'm so timid when i'm cutting as it is. i hate seeing and hearing these stories. it makes me second guess my capabilities.

Think that it is time to order the peice that broke/lost off of my helmet.

Gee, thanks..... just what I wanted to start my new year off with. He is one lucky SOB.

facial/nasal bridge cut

I'd say he's very lucky. Where was the PPE/helmet and screen? I'd also guess the chain wasn't spinning when it hit otherwise he'd be looking for a new face. When i worked ER a woodsmen was brought in, ambulatory, supported by two friends with a chain buried into his leg just below the jewels. Missed the Femoral artery by millimeters but ended up destroying alot of musculature. He did walk again ,albeit with a limp. This man, other than a construction type helmet, had no facial protection and no other PPE. Chaps likely could have saved alot of grief and pain. Alittle preparation and thought, goes along way.

I've seen worse cuts from a fistfight.
If that is a chainsaw cut, the kid is one lucky sob.
I cringe to imagine what a kickback of a 66 would do.

Yeesh.

Chain Brake

It looks to me the chain brake did its job, theirs no way the chain was spinning when it hit him. I bet he wears a hard hat/face shield now that says LUCKY on the back. That could have been so much worse.

I agree, looks like he got hit by a stopped chain.

If it was still spinning he wouldn't have a nose

Lesson 1: dont let the chainsaw kickback

Lesson 2: If it does kick back, dont be standing in the way

Lesson 3: Hope the chain brake stops the chain in time and only leaves you with a small gash that can be stiched up.

I'd say he was LUCKY.

Reminds me of the young prisioner that was out on work release to a farmer. I was manning the control room when the farmer called and said the kid had been cut by a chainsaw. "Take him to the ER". He came back hours later with a cut vertically down his face across his right eye - missed the eye but opened up a gash from forhead to chin.

Lucky SOB. Ten to one he wasn't wearing a helmet as that would probably have pushed his head out of the way.

Bet he won't do whatever he did again soon.
