A guy brought a Partner 550 into the shop that has a few issues. One question I have is which spark plug is this thing supposed to take? It's not listed in either the NGK or Champion books. It came in with a CJ6 in it. Should it be a CJ6Y? It also seems to have an air leak somewhere and I don't want to go into it if I'm not going to be able to get parts for it, and I haven't a clue where to look. Normally, I wouldn't even mess with this thing, but we know the guy and we want to help him out if we can.

Next question, that only sawtroll can probably answer: About how old is this thing and what is the displacement?

Thanks guys!

I'm working on a Partner 55 and I think its from the 70's or 80's not sure. I replaced the ignition coil and put in a carb repair kit. And it has an air leak too, it starts, runs, idles and cuts well with the choke about 2/3rds on. Less choke it will idle but not accellerate, dies when you squeeze the throttle. I've been using it for several days now and works fine; I don't plan on tearing it apart to replace a seal at this point. The other possibility would be a leak in the fuel line if you see air bubbles. There are at least two AS members who have parts for this saw and who are more knowledgable than I am too.

Looks like bosh WS7F is the plug to go with.

Let me know if you need parts.

I was looking forward to a 'puzzler':monkey:
