perkins diesel jumped time

I have a 2006 ASV RC-50 skid steer loader with a cat drive train and perkins diesel engine.. AKA Perkapillar... She quit yesteray and when the air filters were removed it was pushing air out the air cleaner.. .. NOT GOOD.. otherwise it sounds normal when cranking it over... Any thoughts on what may have happened?

Starter is winding over backwards

Not a pro or expert here but I would guess the intake valve would have to be stuck open for air to be blowing out of the carb on the compression stroke. Maybe a broke timing chain or broken valve stem. Maybe a stuck lifter. Just guessing.
