Speaking of painting saws, I saw one a few days ago that sure looked like a Stihl, but is was John Deere green. On closer inpection, it was painted. Is that redneck?

Shindaiwas quality is as good as anyones. Their trimmers are the benchmark among professional landscapers/lawn jockeys. Very little husky/stihl in that segment. Mostly shindaiwa, redmax, and some echo. Their saws are very torquey and this is one of the cases where sawtrolls dlg/dyno tests definately dont tell the whole story.

Quality as good as anyones, I'll somewhat agree with that.
Benchmark among landscapers, not in my area. Usually Stihl and Echo
The problem they are having is they run extremely hot and are heavy. Don't last long around here.

Many of their trimmer models are available with or without a catalyst. They have to sell so many of the epa phase II compliant engines. The catalyst adds little or no weight. Looking at the stihl and echo specs, I dont see how you say the shindaiwa units are heavier. It looks like to me they are lighter and have more hp/cc almost across the board.

HAHAHAHA, nothing like a good pissing match. Dealer support for any brand can make them or break them. Look how many of us b!tch about our local (fill in brand here) because they are ignorant, arrogant, overpriced, carry poor stock, etc. Any machine equipped with a catalyst muffler will run hot. As far as weight - they aren't the lightest machines, but we all know the 441 is fat, Troll said so! :D IMO, a heavier saw means quality built - lots of material - maybe overkill, but SOLID - look at Olympyk saws! Too light and reliability will likely be sacrificed, either that or the high-tech material used will break your bank when you buy one! That said, we are all here to enjoy what we have in common - SAWS! Doesn't matter the brand or color. I personally think Echo saws look like toys - doesn't mean they aren't any good. Lots of guys seem to like them. I hated the way the 441 felt in my hands - look how many guys love them. It all comes down to preference.

Gary - I'll run my Shintonka 757 against your Still 044 in big wood anyday

From Both websites
Shin 272 27cc, 1.5hp,13.3lbs dry
Sti FS100RX 31cc,1.3bhp,10.4lbs

Just one example. I am just explaining how it is here. Probably different where you are.

Yeah, but the fact that I two Stihls ought to count for something! As for the J'red, it was a freebie. And besides, unlike some of those old yellow saws, the J'red will start.:)

That Jred is really a Poulan, maybe with some Swedish parts in it......

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, You have told me that a hundred times, but that doesn't make me not like my J'red. And see, in Gary's eyes, a red Pooplaun is better than a Shintonka any day!
Besides, isn't a Poulan with Swedish parts better than a McCulloch with McCulloch parts?

I'm just funning with you Gary, I really like all saws!

I want one in pink

then when some one asks to barrow a chain saw I have the perfect loaner.

They would be too embarrassed to keep it :hmm3grin2orange:
and with a little luck
too embarrassed to ask again :hmm3grin2orange:
