on my way to pick up my Dolmar 7900, i ordered it two days ago , it cost me $875.00 Can. (approx 730.00 us) body only, I hope it it lives up to all the hype, and fits in to the mix of my other saws,
it was cheaper then a 372xp and i hated the 385xp. could not wait for the the 390.
when i went to a tool shop next door the the mikita dealer was there, i went to find a tach. so i asked him about mikta saw it list for 1150. can asked what could get it for on fire sale. since they are not making it in blue any more. he phoned the warehouse and , they have 2 left ,900.each , showed him the bill from next door, he said he would match it (875.00 and a chain) if i took the two saws.
this is related ro my 5100 i keeps on cutting out when it is cold when it is 0deg. c. (32 f.)

Hey, I just got mine yesterday. Bucked, made noodles, what fun! It sure is compact and light for the power, although I''m having to get used to the big dogs.

If you look on page 26 of your 5100 manual, it shows how to vent warm cylinder air into the carb area. It sounds like carb icing to me, that's often worst around freezing. The manual suggests doing this below 40 degrees F.

For me it reset my whole notion of what a saw could be. Bought a second one and as soon as the heated handled version are available and proven I will probably spring for one more in prep for the EPA regs. (Which is still an unanwered question as far as I know. When will 7900 as is now go away?)

Hey Bturner: I have a 20 and 24" bar for mine, and noticed that the standard oil setting was too high for the 20. Have you found the same? No need to spray liters of oil off the bar I figure.

I haven't run a 20 on it, but with a 24 or 28 on mine I have it turned all the way up and it doesn't seem like to much on mine. As long as it isn't making a real mess, I like a lot of oil on the chain. Probably varies between saws and oil. I am running Stihl mostly.

With all my saws I generally have the oil turned up as much as possible as long as they run out of gas before oil. I tend to be cutting 18 inch or bigger wood with my saws, and the bigger wood seems to take more oil somehow.

I ain't Bturner, but with a 20" bar it needs to be turned down a bit, or else you end up with oil seeping out of the top of the clutch cover, dripping all over the place, etc. With it turned up to max and a 28" bar, there is still plenty of oil available.

7900 is sitting in the back of the pick-up went, to the work truck and got a 24in bar for it but there is no chain ,i will have to go and get one tomorrow. delays ,delays, delays

As for the 5100 never though of flipping over to the winter sitting. i will have to see about doing that when its cold again its 8C. all i wore to day was 2 tee shirt, a long and a short. its like spring here

playsafe.

the high here is 7 degrees. Farenheit. Low is 15. Minus.

with a 28 inch bar bucking logs oiler turned all the way up, my 7900 is about perfect. sure wouldn't want less oil though.
