I picked up a CEI mini chief stump grinder. I'm planning on using it for small jobs and on nice lawns along with my carlton 8018. I can't find any info on it. It has a ford 4 cyl industrial. Would like to know more about it like weight, cutter wheel swing width, horsepower, cutting depth, or what ever else. It needs some TLC so I won't be using it for a while.

Mini-Chief Stump Grinder

I had a mini-chief for quite a few years. Really liked the machine. The Builder went out of business but always could find parts. Mostly hyd. Did have to replace all 4 motors over the years. Got them at Motion Industries. The only problem is that they tip over easy.. Always go straight up or down hills not sideways. Some people have added removalble dual wheels on the rear. I liked it as you could do a number of stumps without getting off the machine. I tried plixaglass whidshield but went to luxan as it doesn't scrath so easy. Only way to clean was to have water flowing of the windshield when wiping with a soft cloth so it doesn't scratch. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if yoy have any questions. It sure was a great machine for a second machine to go with my Vermeer 2465 with a 80 HP Duetz diesel. Good Luck.

I've already got plans for a set of duals because I do some work on slopes and lake lots. Was yours gas or diesel? How was the cutting speed? I need to come up with a carburator to get it running so I haven't used it yet. If it works well, it will be my small machine to go with my carlton 8018

It has a ford adjustable venturi carb with rebuild kits no longer available. I just need some kind of a base mounted single barrel that has similar flange for mounting. I would like to find a holley 194 to try. I've also got a Zenith side draft off a V465D wisconsin. I might make an elbow and try that. How did the cut speed compare to a modern 35 hp grinder? What was the swing of the cutter wheel. I could only guess they made one model and had a gas or diesel option.

Moe,
What size Ford Engine do you have? Most Ford Industrial Engines are the same as a Ford Tractor Engine. Do you have number from the carb.?
