I just removed a big pine yesterday. The weather was nice with a gentle breaze that made the job fun. But...I got covered from head to boot with pine sap. I don`t work in these trees often but if I start doing more of these I`m going to have to find a good way to get cleaned up at the end of the day. What works for cleaning pine sap from both skin and clothing?

Thanks
Glenn Gertis

Waterless hand cleaner. Rub it into the worst spots on your clothes before laundering. -Of course you probably already know how to rub until liquified on skin then wipe or rinse off. The orange oil formulaes work- and smell better than the original.

Nice white pine removal. I just did one the other day. That sap is like clear jelly. I use orange clean. And on the clothes I use oxy clean spray. It save you alot in clothes.

I use Fast Orange. Stuff works pretty well. Liquid soaps with pumice in them also work well. For on the job where running water is not available, some waterless stuff works well along with a rag.

Avon 'Skin-So-Soft' will take it right off....you'll smell good too.

I like it when yur all showered up and head out only to find a big smudge ya missed on the backside of yur forearm. It ain't sticky no more, just a black smear ya gotta scrub on some more.

Sap Sucks!

I told ya!!! Pine sap sucks
Yes it does:D

Thanks for all the advice, I am relieved that I will not have to wash with mineral spirits again. I was not brave enough to put it in my hair and have yet to be able to pull a comb through it. Another reason to purchase a real climbing helmet with straps:)

Thanks Glenn

MasterBlaster.......That is so funny and true about forearms. You think you are all set then when you comb your hair you see big black spots with forearm hair all matted down....LMAO

I use hand cleaner the same way Rocky J described, only my favorite is Goop. Works real well on clothes washing, too, even recommended on the container for laundry use. You folks who only experience this hassle once in a while are lucky...for me it is every climbing day. You haven't truly seen pitch until you have picked cones :p .
