hopefully some of senior members do chime in, did you source a new coil as well.
are there still parts readily availible in canada, did your saw come with c/b.Got the parts from a old distributer up here in Canada. Maybe some of the senior members can add to the C/B delimma.
Its getting real hard to find anything even on ebay,do you have other pioneer saws.l have new coils here . the coil on this saw though is good. My Saw as l got it did not have the chain brake on it. Parts are getting harder to find up here.
where in canuckistan are ya?
yeah im a bit hesitant to grind, maybe if i had a spare cylinder id give it a go.I have been running a 32" on mine for a while in oak as well, just would be nice to have some extra length sometimes.I have been looking for the smaller dogs like hillwilliam had mentioned that will gain some length, but no luck yet might just buy a d009 36" barThose are some great looking 61's that P61 and Beavers have. Nice to see saws in such great condition.
Beavers, did you paint the saw yourself or have someone do it? I've thought about trying to paint one up like new but then I'd think I wouldn't use it for fear of scratching it up. I like running them too much to not use them.
P61, Hillwilliam is correct. Removing the exhaust divider and some porting to the cylinder and those Pioneers will really run. Like you though, I'm hesitant to go grinding on a cylinder.
I haven't run a 36" bar on my 60 series saws yet but I know they'll run a 32" with full comp chain in oak so I'm betting a 36" bar and chain won't be an issue for you.
Jacobs Farm equipment out here in Essex, Ontario was one of the first be a Dealership , lts been a couple of years now but they were trying to sell of inventory at that time.is the distributor out there?

would definitly be interesred in the p52 later this summer sent you a pm about the dogs as wellBeavers, that is quite a collection. Now I don't feel bad for owning a dozen of them. Do you have a PP655? I got one a year and a half ago at the recommendation of Hillwilliam and they are badass saws. I really enjoy it.
P61, I've got at least one P52 that I'm going to be selling later this summer. Not sure if you're dead set on a 51 or if a 52 will do the trick. It needs to be gone through, cleaned up, and the usual fuel lines, filter, carb kit , etc . It's been sitting for many years but everything looks to be in good shape.
I think you did ok it runs and looks half decent for fifteen bucks, check ebay for filter cover.
Grabbed this at a swap meet today for $15. Did I do ok or get screwed? Never owned a pioneer. Fueled it, adjusted the carb, and replaced some missing muffler screws and it seems to run and oil fine. I need a air filter cover for it if anyone has one. It's a model 1074 btw.
theres a link on petesoldsaw profile page in the info part of profile page2broke2ride is looking for a 1074 service manual in the beg for manuals thread. I have very little Pioneer info. Mainly a handful of ipls.
