AAAHHHH, oooohhhhh, a 600. Almost like a sugar rush when I see one of them even though I have owned more than a couple dozen of them, always a rush on first sight. Your front handle is from a 650, nice upgrade.

I think they are cool , almost 60 years later people are still putting them to work . Like most era saws they lack rpm . Will work all day ...slowly !

When we bought our first new 600 back in 58 it was a whole lot better than the misery whip and bow saws that were being used around that time frame. We had a Pioneer RA on the farm but dad only had the hand saws, cutting up 20 cord of wood was even slower with hand saws. Every couple of years a newer/better model of saw came out and soon there were many chainsaws around us, mostly Homelite and Pioneers in our area.

Must of been a popular mod , my other one has it too .

Ahh, now from that angle I can see it is a ,home made remedy, in your other earlier pict it appeared to me that it had the molded grip from a 650 on it, was looking at that pict without my readers on....LOL

Here is a pic of the bottom of the muffler. This is something they did, and I will probably leave it like so. Also here is a pic of my complete K&N set up on my p62.View attachment 620042 View attachment 620043

I thought it was pretty ironic that one of the forest service fire crews here in Az made that muffler mod when they're part of the same organization that used to check saws here for spark arrestors.

You used to have to have the saw inspected and put a sticker on the saw that showed it was ok to use in the woods. That was back before my time though and back before spark arrestors were standard equipment.

I still have a Pioneer top cover with some of the Forest Service stickers on it. Pretty sure they were from the mid to late 70's.

Lol I think it's pretty funny that they did that. My p61 western still has the last inspection sticker that my grandpa had got from 1984. I think my dads farmsaw has it as well.

Just a re post of an old pict I just never get tired of looking at,

I saw that and thought they may get more for that saw if the auction wasn't ending on Christmas Eve. But then I thought if I was wanting it real bad, I'd be bidding on Christmas Eve. Looks like nice one, you should add it to your collection!
Lol your a enabler Paul. I posted that just in case someone here wanted one. If it don't go to high I might go for it.

Merry Christmas guys!
