PLEASE HELP! which chipper is this (photos)?

Hi,

We are having trouble working out which chipper this is. Apparently it's a Vemeer 950 but we cannot find any information or pictures of a 950.

It was originally yellow and the ID plate was painted over.
There is an empty black instructions box with a Vermeer logo bolted to the feed chute and the Vermeer writing is not original.
The stress/load control is not currently working, although has a control box with a "posi-quip" label which points to "rock inc" who make log splitters, stump grinders and apparently chippers. Little information is available on the internet, we've looked extensively.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like an oldish 935 with probably a 50hp (perkins) engine.
I'm sure some1 will soon corect me if im wrong:monkey:

I think i contacted "rock inc" a few years ago about the autofeed on my chipper since B-track wanted over £300 for a new one but they never got back to me. If i find the web site I'll et ya know.

It's not a Vermeer

Hi scouse,

Thanks for replying. I emailed Vermeer and they passed on my inquiry to Jeremy at Vermeer UK (formally B-Tech) whom was very helpful.
I sent him the photos from the previous post and he confirmed: "It definitely is not a Vermeer machine of any vintage. It does look American though."

He then very kindly offered to pass on photos of the chipper to Vermeer USA to see if any of the Vermeer chipper gurus could shed any light on the situation.
I will send him some better photos and let you know the outcome.

Robbie, thats a RAM 50 chipper. The breifly appeared in the UK about 10 years ago. I'll try dig out some more info

I've looked for RAM 50 chippers and cannot find any information.
Perhaps RAM is an acronym?

Sorry robbie, I cant find any details of who brought in the RAM chippers. I was speaking to Londonderry council a few months ago, and they couldent remember where they bought theirs from either.
Whats the problem with the machine? what do you need for it?

RAM 50DH

After a lot of poking around on the net with the info you guys have given me i found this at archive.org :

archive.org don't archive the photos but the text proves that the chipper is a RAM 50DH.

The main archive.org page (http://web.archive.org/web/*sa_/http://www.rampower.com) suggests they started their web????e in Dec 1998 and shut it down in Aug 2000.

I think RAMPOWER were taken over by POWERTEK as indicated on this page:

I have sent an email to POWERTEK asking if their chippers are similar to RAMPOWER.
Thor's Hammer I wonder if Londonderry Council know where to get parts or even if we could get a photo of the stress control hydraulic feed system.
Our chipper is missing a solenoid valve on the stress control - the rollers just run flat out continuously.
It has the wiring and sensor and two wires end at a plug which have nowhere to plug into. The plug most likely is meant to go to a solenoid valve which may have been removed at some point because it was causing a problem.
Do you have a contact at Londonderry Council?

Robbie, those components are off the shelf items. I can sell you the autofeed unit, the valves etc.

I think the stress control box works ok. We need a sensor and a solenoid valve.
