All right guys I have to get some opinions here. What do you guys think is the best underdog saw MFG currently in production? Underdog saw=anything not stihl & husky/jonsered.

I had to vote for Redmax. I never had a saw as tough as my 5000. I am using a Dolmar 5100 now, I hope it is as good.

Poulan and poulan pro both are trash saws...thats a fact not an opinion.

There was one or two fast RedMax's at Joker's GTG last spring and the EHP5100 (Dolmar) was also as fast or faster than the ported saws from Husky/Stihl.

I guess if Dolmar was off the list, I'd go with RedMax.

I left jonsered off the list because they are the same as husky...I don't think jonsered will be around to much longer...good saws though! see poulan/poulan pro. If jonsy were on the list so would husky.....husky/jonsered.....I wish I could redo this whole thread...who do i talk to..to get this deleted and start a new one! I would leave out consumer poulans 1st..I can't believe people voted for pullon!

I got to admit I just voted for Poulan. Some of the pro series was actually partner based designs. I have a 3450 right now, 54 cc. I also had a 028 woodboss. You notice I said had. I like the adjustable oiler on the 3450 and a clean air filter. The 028 was a pig with the airfilter and in my opion oil is cheap and the 028 thought it was gold. You could burn over 2 tanks of gas for one of oil. Yeap if you have Dolmar on the list Jred should be too. In my area you never here much about them and not of them around either. Its all stihl or husky homeline saws.

Before six months ago or so, I 've never even heard of Dolmar...Now I own two...With the growing popularity and performance of the Dolmar/Makita saws, it will soon be one of the "big boys" IMO.
