Pony tail pal trimming

I have a 15 ft pony tail pal that is touching top of lanai screen. Can I cut it down a few feet

Lol. So do you have a recommendation. Can I cut down on the trunk a few feet and it will live?

Had many ponytails over the years. Found the younger the plant the better chance of survival when heading back. One of my other forums has a good thread on this.
