Just wondering if anyone is running a ported saw for milling?

Currently all my saws are stock except for a slight muffler mod on my 660 done by my dealer.

I've never ran a ported saw so have no idea what the difference is like. My concern is that there may be a decrease in reliability given my saws run full noise all day for 8 hours.

I have a ported 394xp that I bought from a member here that wears a 42" bar most of the time. I have not had any issues. Builder recommended 36:1 mix and I have never ran ethanol in it. I would think they might run a little cooler but I don't know for sure. I do know that I can squeeze a 34 1\2" log in my mill and that saw just takes it rip after rip!

There is a porter just north of Melbourne out at Wallan, and others around if your in the know. Just be sure that you get the work done to torque not chain speed/hp. To do with Timing, transfers and port shapes, especially for 40hr weeks.
It's possibly in a thread or one of the sponsors heads.

Interested in this outcome as well

I'm still not sure if I want to gamble a 880 on a little bit more power
I can understand @$2800 pop

Maybe try Test mules, EBay 92cc baumer ag or gt machinery ch660 @499.
A 82cc I got ages ago to hack port (it's still in pieces) has a 12mm slot much like a 3003 so some stuff might fit

I've got an 088 from mastermind, bought it for milling and he said it'd be fine, just go 32-1.

Haven't used it for milling yet but it rings up gum no worries
