Kind of behind, I should have 10 cord stacked by now. I did have 2 customers ask for a cord early and got them out of the way for now. They both get 2 cord each. Behind the stacked wood you can see some Oak and Cherry on the ground. I was starting to split and stack it, and I found two of these little girls under the pile. Now I'm wearing gloves. Then Friday I found the biggest Yellow Jacket hive I've ever seen under a pile of Oak. Glad I saw them first!

Gave away the 395 to an organization in Sandpoint, Id. that cuts, splits & delivers free firewood to folks that heat with wood but can't afford to buy it, so the 661C is the go-to big saw. Gave this organization a modified 390 and a 365 two years ago.

Will pick up another 661(standard carb) later this month

Once he cuts that in half or maybe thirds it should be much easier to work with. If the crotch pieces are tough to split on the splitter I will give up on them to keep things moving. I think he has a professional setup and it is silver maple after all.
I cut chunks off, odd shapes are OK

In the past I've used a longer bar and cut 5-7 inch thick cookies then split them with an axe

But nowadays I use a 20" bar

We're suppose to get some rain with cooler weather this weekend so we put one load of pine in this morning, I was taking splits from the stack in the back, picture 4062.

After we put in one load it was time I washed my vehicle ( did the wife's yesterday) when I was drying my vehicle off I heard some branches start coming off the dead pine and then a big crack with a thud, glad it didn't happen when I was standing necx to it.

We burned 12 face cord of shoulder season wood last heating season so I've been working on some pine that has been down for years, since our stacking area is full, I've been dumping it in a pile with the tractor.

This year we have 15 face cord of shoulder season wood up, burning 12 face cord last year saved us just under 5 face cord of hardwood. We also burned 70 to 73 bags of pellets last year, most were burned overnight during January, February and some in March.

We just had a tree removed and I cut up some wood for firewood. Currently I have it in the backyard next to the fence.
I was thinking of placing them on a wood pallet outside or should I leave it as is uncovered?
I try to get mine covered, at least the top. But I do have some uncovered the first year. Then after the Summer heat, I cover it so it stays dry so I can burn it the second year. I know others don't cover theirs.
