my guess would be Crank bearings are messed up you may have leaned it out too much on the high speed mixture screw on the carb or run improper oil/fuel ratio the tinging sound could be broken piston rings. If you really want to fix it just try to find another one for parts. Anything can be fixed if you have the knowledge. Take it apart and find out what's wrong and which seals bearings etc need replacing and price out a used one or for to order new parts. Reset the carb to factory settings and go from there If your cylinder is scored and the piston is toast you may just want to throw this saw away or sell for parts as it is not worth enough money to sink a lot of coin into.

Ya, did ya? we want pics!

Sorry guys, I haven't had a second to pull it apart yet. Had to run some errands last night. I'll pull the muffler off after work today and let you guys know what I see or take some pics.

My dad has limbs down at his house, so he is going to go 1/2 with me on a Husky 142, so it'll only cost about $100 out of my pocket to get that saw. From everything I've read on here, it's a definite step up. I don't have a need for anything bigger than the 142 as I'll just be clearing smaller sized trees and cutting fire wood, so it'll be great for me.

Again, I'll follow up with results.

Just 2 cents worth of opinion. Open the muffler up and adjust the carb richer on the H side. They have these new saws set up so lean for epa from the factory that they just seem to cook within from the heat build up.

The 2055 isn't worth mucking with unless you just want to do it for fun (valid in my book). Bowtye's 3000 is actually old enough to be a pretty decent saw. There are lots of similar Poulans out there on EBAY, they do not fetch a premium price. 40 - 70 bucks maybe.
