Recently bought my 1st chain saw, a Poulan 3700, for $45 from a pawn shop in Houghton MI. Tonight I fired it up for the 1st time to cut up some felled oaks. After filling and about 5 pulls it fired off and ran fine. Until,...the chain jumped off the bar and got tangled up. I got it unwrapped but now it is very stiff in spots so I assume a few links are tweaked.
Whoever had the saw before had not tightened the nuts on the bar mount studs to maintain a fixed bar position. So off to FleetFarm tomorrow for a new chain. The bar seems ok. the saw fired up without the bar on it. But with the bar mounted and the chain tensioned (bottom run pretty slack) it just bogs down and the chain does not move. It is quite difficult to move the chain with the saw turned off. New chain tomorrow, and properly tensioned I should be good to cut with my Poulan classic.
