So at this point in the restoration I'm at a cross roads I have been unable to locate a cylinder cover or the small airfilter cover. I'm also going to try and make my own friction disc for the started cover out of HDPE material if I can find it thin enough. If any of you guys have a cylinder cover or know where to obtain one I would love take it off your hands and put it to good use. Really I would!

When I did my 8500 I found air filter covers on ereplacementparts.com I believe.
Reasonably priced too

Yes I already tried that route and they no longer have any they showed one for the 6900 but after ordering one it was cancelled by them stating no longer available.

I personally have never seen one are they metal like the 5200-5400 or are they plastic. If it's not to bad I mite be able to repair it if all the pieces are there.

Let me know if you still have it a piece of one is better than not having at this point.

No they won't. My point is I could be wrong about what I saw listed, and you might find what you need under a listing other than Poulan. The more knowledgeable Poulan guys would know if the 8500 was re-badged for another company. The only model I know of for certain was the Poulan 5200/Craftsman 5.2. If my searches are anything to go by, the Craftsman 5.2 is more rare than the Poulan 5200.

No I really appreciate the comments and I did look on ebay at the Dayton stuff and was hoping someone listed a cover not knowing what they had. It just seems theres not much in the way of parts for theses saw.

I feel the need to clarify something:

"The only model I know of for certain was the Poulan 5200/Craftsman 5.2." I mean regarding the 5200, 5400, & 8500. Poulan rebadged many models for many different companies.

Man that's a nice collection of poulans. Hoping mine looks as good btw is that a 32" or 36" bar
