Where the Wild Things Are
This was my Christmas present - 33cc and a modular attachment system. Came with a string trimmer head and a 8" saw, and an extra extension. I worked on this power head before for a co-worker, and I thought it was well designed, so I was happy when I saw it. With all the storm damage around here from the Halloween storm there's lots of bent and broken branches to be trimmed. I found it cut quite well, and has plenty of power for the bar that's on it. The reach is appropriate from what I found - longer might be nice some times, but it would get a bit too far away for good control I think.
But what I didn't think about is how useful it is for vines and overhanging multifloral roses. It's great! you can cut that stuff off without getting stuck under it. I trimmed off some climbing vines from some trees I wanted to save but had trouble reaching due to the briers around the base. It should be good for poison ivy vines too, so you can trim them and stay out of the chips.
I like it and can see it's going to get a lot of use around here. Should make a nice string trimmer too - it's a considerably bigger engine than my old Echo. I don't know if it's got a cat or a standard muffler, but I did open the hi jet just a bit (it has the splined adjustment screw, but I've got the tool.
