This was my Christmas present - 33cc and a modular attachment system. Came with a string trimmer head and a 8" saw, and an extra extension. I worked on this power head before for a co-worker, and I thought it was well designed, so I was happy when I saw it. With all the storm damage around here from the Halloween storm there's lots of bent and broken branches to be trimmed. I found it cut quite well, and has plenty of power for the bar that's on it. The reach is appropriate from what I found - longer might be nice some times, but it would get a bit too far away for good control I think.

But what I didn't think about is how useful it is for vines and overhanging multifloral roses. It's great! you can cut that stuff off without getting stuck under it. I trimmed off some climbing vines from some trees I wanted to save but had trouble reaching due to the briers around the base. It should be good for poison ivy vines too, so you can trim them and stay out of the chips.

I like it and can see it's going to get a lot of use around here. Should make a nice string trimmer too - it's a considerably bigger engine than my old Echo. I don't know if it's got a cat or a standard muffler, but I did open the hi jet just a bit (it has the splined adjustment screw, but I've got the tool.

I bought one last year at the flea market for $45 cause the adjustments were out and the guy couldn't find the right "screwdriver" as he said. Brought it home and tweaked it and it has been great. I added a different bicycle type front handle for some more control.

Good deal, I never tried the poaulan version, but they look pretty decent. Sound's like you are happy.

I just realized this is a strato engine - it's the first of those I've had. It doesn't really like starting in the cold, but it runs just fine. I don't know of the muffler is a cat or not - it kinda looks like one, but you can't really tell, and I don't know if they combine cats and strato.

ive had one for several rears, have multiple attachments. runs great, pretty impressive for its size. mine didnt have a cat muffler. first thing i did was cut off the stupid folded over cover on the exhaust then richened it a tad( made slots with a dremel cut-off wheel)

mine only issue now is about ever 6 months haveing to replace the fuel lines(stupid ethenal!)

I picked up the brush cutter attachment today for $50. The original package for the pole trimmer included a curved shaft string trimmer and a harness. The brush cutter included a U-shaped handle, another string trimmer head to fit the gear drive end on the brush cutter, a guard for the sting trimmer and another harness. So I've got a lot of gear for it now!

So far it's been working very well and I've had a lot of uses for the pole saw. I wanted the brush cutter because I was clearing out an area overgrown with oriental bittersweet, and it worked pretty well - lots of rocks so I can't get real close to the ground. I still like my old 25cc Echo, but this is 33cc and strato. It's a nice system and I expect I will be using it quite a bit.
