But the question remains...which dolmar counterparts are they?

Sap is right on the big wood, who would of guessed? The 8500 was made in circa 1984 it was around 80cc saw.In the states it was marketed lime green in Canada it was orange.

Yay Sap!

Who cares what the guy looks like, or the dorky saw. Study the picture of the log, something looks odd to me, like what is he doing? Is he bucking it from the top down, I can't see an underbuck cut, will it slab? WTF?

The Poulan 8500 - 85cc looks much like the POULAN (BEAIRD POULAN) countervibe series 4200, 4400, 4900, 5200, 5400. Nice saws.

The 5300 and 8500 are basically the same saw. No Solo at all. I have a running 5300 and two other part saws. One is an 8400 and the other a 5300. Should be able to make one saw out of the two except for a top cover. Contact me a deal on all three.
Never mind the're sold! (Thanks Bob) Mike

Hahahahahahaha!......No Thanks Mike!....with your reputation as a high grading saw dealer, I would rather slit my wrists than buy any of your junk!......:monkey:

GANG BANG TIME, Hey Mike I will give you plug like you did for me. Buyer beware.

If you need a Solo 680 I know where there is one brand new.

I didn't see a listing for a Poulan 5300 or 8400?

The man on the throttle is Greg Musgrave. He's a Laytonville native that now owns a Arborist company called Family Tree. That picture was shot in Branscomb CA. I see the magazine says 1995 but, that picture had to be from the mid to late 80's. I'm pretty sure that log is on a downhill lie and he's on his first 24 from the butt. You can see the loose dirt around under the log from the bed they made to fall it in.

Picked up a 5500 today. I know it isn't the same saw as the cover shot, but what the hey. Anyone know where i can get some neon green touch up paint and a few decals? It could use a new clutch cover, as it has a crack in it. Also need the clutch cover dawg. Check it out
