for chunking down 2 fir, 120 and 130m feet, 30 and 34 inch dbh, today. I bet trees have never been cut so fast!

Man that saw screams with a 24 bar....

It was too big of a day for me to take the time to put the 8 tooth sprocket on that I forgot to do earlier...or switch to the 32 bar so I could have a more fair comparison with my 36" equipped 066. I'm pretty sure the saw would pull a 9 tooth sprocket with a 24 inch bar, 20 inch for sure..so gotta get one and see.

No time for pics, much less a break..thanks again to my tardy, half sick motley crew...I'm getting tired of this nonsense.

We filled the chip truck once plus some rakings...and that was making firewood out of the over 4 inch branch wood to save space...probably made 5 cord of wood to boot.

We have a winner, thank you DAN!!

Hey Rog, how does it compare to your 066 so far? Seems like it ought to pull an 8 pin no sweat.

Yup I know that Rocky, Danny did my 372! I think my powers of observation( or lack of) are correlated to my caffiene ingestion this am, but I'm working on it, lol. Worst part is I went back and looked for the info before posting and stihl missed it.

Russ,

A good 066/7900 test will have to wait till I have comparable bars fitted...I also would like to run each with both 7 and 8 tooth....both long and short bars too.

Yesterday, it felt like the 7900 was quite a bit faster, but it was running 12 inches less bar length.

One would expect the 066 to pull ahead, if cutting wood over 32 inches, but who knows, the 7900 is pretty darn torquey.

Hi
Glad to here that you are happy with the saw.
How many tanks of fuel did it take to loosen it up?

Hard to tell for sure, Dan, but it seemed like 15 or so. We do lots of pruning, so it doesn't get hard use every day. Gotta think it is the best 4-6 cube saw ever!

Roger, I think that 9 tooth sprocket is going to push the chain away from the oil hole on the bar.

Could be wiley. i reckon most of the guys running big sprockets have special bars... For brief racing cuts, one could preoil the chain I guess, but for work,,not so good....I just thought I'd like to try one if I put a 20 inch bar on the saw...and try it with the 24. It is pulling the 8 tooth on the 32 bar with amazing ease....blew through that 35 inch fir cut(counting the bark) at 19 feet up today like butter!

And that's round filed now, as I had to file close to 30% of the chain down after Ian tried to cut al the way through some granite yesterday.
